Potent Tai grew up in New Jersey and was influenced by 90's hip hop such as Biggie Smalls, Tupac & KRS-ONE. He began writing poetry and collecting mixtapes every weekend in downtown Newark until he developed his flow and style.
In 2005 Potent Tai joined alliances with a New Brunswick group called the Jerzey Devilz. They were fast on the scene and eager to perform, rocking many stages.
Eventually Potent Tai moved to Austin, TX for a fresh start where he collaborated with various acts until meeting HADES (Hungry Artists Don't Ever Stop) a local Austin producer. The two quickly formed a friendship and started recording together. It wasn't long before many tracks were recorded and Potent Tai & HADES released POTENCY a free mixtape featuring big name acts like LMNO of The Visionaries and Menace O.B.E.Z. of Brooklyn ZU. Around this time, the main Rap radio station in Austin, 102.3 The Beat, caught on to Potent Tai's talents and created a segment called Word On The Streets, where every weekday Potent Tai would rap current news and celebrity gossip.
Since then, Potent Tai & HADES have been wowing audiences at shows with a hard-hitting set, and using theatrics that include a DANCING, SEXY ROBOT!
