"Worldwide Release holds the potential as the record that can break open the national scene for Sista Otis and the Wholly Rollers. And it's a great album, full of the variety and depth that Otis is known for. "The band's name and its Detroit Pedigree set some big expectations. Happily, Sista Otis and her Wholly Rollers manage to over deliver. Sista serves up Janis Joplin-inspired 1960s Rock mingled with flavors of funk, hip-hop, soul, and urban folk in socially conscious songs"
-Mark Davis, The Advocate - -Mark Davis

"Rolling Stone"

Mentioned in Rolling Stone along with Emimem and The Funk Brothers for Awards won in 2004 Detroit Music Awards.
(4/14/04) - Rolling Stone

"Windy City Times"

Also hailing from the Midwest, Detroit to be exact, is Sista Otis and the Wholly Rollers. With the feverish fervor of a faith healer, Sista Otis and company rolls through a series of songs on its CD Worldwide Release (Wholly Roller) that sound as if they were baptized in hip-hop (“Beat On The Road”), funk (“Love Is Spiritual”), modern rock (“Rollin’ Stone,” “Mama Look At Me”), and the blues (“Letter To Denine”), and bring the listener to the brink of testifying.
-Gregg Shapiro, Windy City Times - -Gregg Shapiro

"Between The Lines"

"One listen leaves little doubt that Otis is on her way out of the shadows of the gritty, "urban folk" genre she helped create and on her way into the mainstream. But that's OK. Perhaps it's the mainstream that needs this prophetess most of all."
-Jason Michael, Between The Lines - -Jason Michael

Discography

"Charmed" TBR
The album "Charmed" was birthed during a creative journey that spanned from New Orleans to Los Angeles after Upper Ninth Studios (New Orleans, LA) picked up singer/songwriter Sista Otis. "Charmed" was produced by Norwood Fisher (punk/funk pioneer) and Jimmy Sloan (Ben Harper, Blind Boys of Alabama, and Jack Johnson). "Charmed" borrows the talents of a wide range of musicians who incorporate the world of music that extends from rock 'n roll and country to gospel and even gypsy-instrumentalist Jeff Ross. John McKnight (Ben Harper) plays guitar, mandolin, accordion, B-3, piano, whirlitzer, and trombone. Phillip "Fish" Fisher (Fishbone, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera) joins his brother Norwood (bass) creating a blood and soul mortar that lays down the foundation for this modern roots record. Eliza James (Alicia Keys, Harry Connick Jr, and Pink) adds the sophistication of a full string section with only her violin. Joey WIlliams (Blind Boys of Alabama) plays guitar and sings gospel background vocals- along with, Norman Fox (The Rob Roys), daughter Kim Fox (Dreamworks artist), and Angelo Moore (Fishbone).

Sista Otis,"The Original Good Times Girl" presents:
~ The Gospel Of Rock 'N Roll Show ~
An acoustic Rock 'N Roll Revolution focused on audience participation, positive energy and, "Good Times" that'll make you feel so jubilant, you'll have to throw your hands up and shout! Songs written and peeled off the nitty gritty black top of the big cities on through to the back dirt roads of lil' country towns. These songs are fused with the blood sweat and tears of a real deal Singer/Songwriter/Performer extraordinaire! Born and raised on Detroit Rock 'N Roll, Motown, she took that mix to New Orleans and studied Jazz, Gospel, and brass band. That combined with a childhood love for the old school Sun Memphis recordings, makes up the gumbo of this "one of a kind" artist that is unmatchable and easy to promote.
