"LIVE HOW YOU LIVE"

“Produced by Milioto, with Ryan Boyko and Mike Clannon, his new CD ‘The Venice Sessions’ is as solid as Milioto suggests; heart-felt but still hard-rocking, and some of his best”

"Music Notes"

The youngest of four children and the only boy in the family,
Carm Milioto has spent his life immersed in music. While a regular
on local stages with his band The Feels for the last few years, this
weekend he'll be debuting a different outing. As well as leading
The Feels, an original band and cover band for hire, Milioto has
branched out with his own recording studio, Studio 410 Sound
Productions with business partner Adrian Fidanza. This weekend
Milioto offers some of his most personal work with his own solo
CD, Scenes From Then And Now.
"As a child I took a liking to music, rhythm and anything that
music could make you feel," recalls Milioto on his early childhood.
"I had been singing since the age of three and my parents always
had me entertaining company, and I loved it."
He got his first guitar at thirteen and the self taught Milioto
formed a band in high school with Adam Clannon on bass. As the
years progressed he would form his current band with Mike
Clannon on lead guitar and Todd Hornby on drums. While the
band used an alter ego, Earl, to perform covers and help pay the
bills, The Feels is now the only name the four use. With their
second album pending this summer, Milioto believes that The
Feels are at its best yet but wanted to offer his own individual
perspective as well.
"I have committed my life to music, when I'm not performing
or recording with the band, I perform acoustically and recording
my own music, explains Milioto. "Being a studio engineer and a
producer has helped me to take advantage of any emotional
feeling and or musical expression I had.
"As far as my solo album, my music has a different vibe to it
then The Feels, it is more dedicated to my visions, my
experiences and my emotions. The guys are all so talented and,
we write collectively amazingly. I wouldn't feel comfortable telling
any player in my band how or what to play to these songs, so I
figured I'd take care of it and keep it separate then what The Feels
are.
Primarily a hard rock album with a serious pop sensibility, it
conjures up modern rock radio faves like The Dave Matthews
Band or Matthew Good with songs that obviously base themselves
on classic rock tenets but hope to go further.
"I was going for my own sound. I really just put together a
whole bunch of experiences to where I was musically at that
time," says Milioto. "I'm continually inspired by The Doors, Led
Zeppelin, The Beatles, Pearl Jam and I'm sure some of those may
shine through naturally. I feel every track on this CD is me
through and through. Those who know me best will agree. The
album is a collection of experience from happy times, sad times,
partying, realizing, losing, strengthening, and many more things
that made me who I am now. The important thing here is where it
all came from. It's a pretty personal CD, kind of makes me feel
different about putting it out, because in many senses it is like
lending a journal to people, whether knowing them or not."
For Scenes, Milioto plays most of the instruments with
Lorenzo Castelli the only other performer on the recording. While
he'll debut some of the songs live and follow up with a listening
party for the CD release party this weekend, he'll bring his friends
and family The Feels on stage to close the night. While an
important excursion and musical exploration for Milioto, the
singer assures his heart is still with The Feels and their collective
future.
"Once the second Feels album is released, all of our focus
will be on getting out there as much as possible," assures Milioto.
"Originally I didn't plan on making this CD release a big deal. I
wanted to be at a comfortable pub venue, somewhere conducive
to a relaxing atmosphere and where I have established listeners
as an individual," he explains. "But it seems it has become a much
bigger deal. It will be a great party, but The Feels will all be
involved. I will perform five or six of the songs then we will spin
the CD over the system for all to hear for the first time and then
The Feels perform some cover and original music to keep the
party happening."
Carm Milioto debuts Scenes From Then and Now at the
Whistling Walrus this Saturday March 25 at 10pm with The Feels

"Music Notes"

“We haven’t been signed to any labels or anything, but we sure
gig a lot and there is still nothing better then people requesting
their favourites, especially when it happens to be something you
wrote,” smiles The Feels singer and guitarist Carm Milioto on the
time since we last wrote about his solo debut recording. His band
has since continued to lead a double life mixing covers and
original material gigs and even recently released their sophomore
self–titled effort as a band.
“I had a great response from the release of Scenes From
Then And Now,” recalls Milioto on his solo effort. “But people
really seemed to connect with the new Feels CD, people seemed
to have more personal references to the lyrics and we also had
many compliments on the overall tone and flow of the album.
“It is a true taste of what The Feels are all about creatively
and emotionally, at least to date,” adds the singer. “Recording this
CD has brought the band together on a level we never had prior
to this record. The first CD started as a solo project of mine, and I
did most of the writing on that project. Album two has our new
drummer Todd Hornby on it and the unbelievable writing
attributes of Mike Clannon on guitar. Adam Clannon’s bass lines,
whether tugging or chillin’, continue to shape the songs and
vocally and lyrically I feel I’m much stronger on this record. We all
wrote the songs together and each song was well thought out. It
was also a great experience to write and record the songs the way
we saw fit, and then to present it to others to enjoy, almost a self–
indulgent process.”
With another of his more introspective solo efforts
potentially in the works, Milioto also funnels his creativity into
Studio410 Sound Productions (the studio he co–owns), but he
assures his heart always comes back to the more rocking band he
started many years ago. And to keep that dream alive The Feels
play anywhere, anyhow, anytime.
“I think that we’ve been blessed with the opportunity of
gigging regularly as a cover act and that we knew it would be
great to pitch our tunes within our cover sets,” offers Milioto. “We
have requests for our material at every single gig we play and that
in itself is a success as far as we are all concerned. Playing
original gigs are definitely different then cover gigs, mainly
because the evening is centred on creativity and performance. We
are very comfortable on stage and we love to rock out, especially
to Feels’ tunes.
“Every venue calls for a different approach for sure, there is
no one formula or set list that runs fluently at every bar or club
we play at,’ he adds. “We will definitely be performing original
material and selling CDs alike. We have bookings every single
week until June thus far, but it’s hard to say where we will be in a
year, the main thing is, that we are performing and doing it
together.”

Recent Press Quote
A band from Hamilton called "Live How You Live" have released their third album called "Blue Collar Love". I'd guess the bands biggest influences are Pearl Jam and Sam Roberts. It's just rock music really, with lots of hooks, some harder riffs, good melodies and good songs. I'm going to play the lead off track "All The Faithful" which is a good representation of what the band does. This band is really on the verge of getting bigger and they do really well live..." Explore Music - Adam Morrison

The band has played over 250 shows since forming Jan 2009 and have won multiple Hamilton Music Awards for "Group of the Year" by Peoples Choice, they have also had all three albums nominated for Rock Record of the Year, up against artists like The Reason, Monster Truck, Finger 11 and The Arkells

LHYL has had Radio airplay across the Country on College and Commercial stations and has attracted the attention of Alan Cross, whom has featured the band on a number of his national broadcasts

Through touring, writing, recording, and performing regularly, the band has created a great following and continue to push forward in the Canadian Music Scene. Many people are becoming familiar with the vibe that is "Live How You Live".

_______________________________________________
Live How You Live is a Canadian band, a journey and a state of mind. In 2006 Carm Milioto released his first album named Scenes from Then and Now", although it was a full production, the music was showcased acoustically as a solo performance. At the beginning of the writing process for his second record in 2007, Carm secured a show at the world renowned Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, California. Accompanied by Ryan Boyko on his trip, little did they know the experience and events to follow would be the start of an exciting musical adventure.

Carm found himself writing many songs and lyrics during their stay in Venice Beach and came back to Hamilton with enough material to begin the writing of his second album. As the album came closer to being completed, Carm had realized he wanted more for the music and how it would be presented. In order for the music to reach people how it was written and intended to sound, he realized he needed to put together a full band.

The days of the acoustic soloist were over and the inception of a new rock band had arrived. Joined by Ryan Boyko on bass guitar, Dylan Panton on guitar and long time friend, Todd Hornby on drums Live How You Live was formed. The band name was taken from a lyric line in one of the songs off of the CD, aptly named The Venice Sessions (Nominated for Best Rock Album @ 2009 Hamilton Music Awards), which was released in February of 2009. The songs are all based on real life experience and the music is a fresh, clean sound with overtones of funk and blues. It is reminiscent of comfort and is emotionally charged and delivered.

In 2009, LHYL now featuring new bassist John Morley - did nothing but hit the high notes. They were awarded Local Group of the Year (by Peoples Choice) at the 2009 Hamilton Music Awards, which showed how much love and support the group gets from the fans. They also won Musical Event of the Year for the Don't Stop Continue CD Release. The Venice Sessions was also nominated for the Rock Recording of the Year. It was a perfect cap on a year that saw LHYL perform over 70 shows, release 2 albums, tour Eastern Canada, play CMW and crack the Toronto market with three enormously successful Party Bus nights that saw fans from Hamilton packing Torontos legendary Horseshoe Tavern.

In 2010, the band has been featured on Explore Music with Alan Cross, Don't
