Tiger & the Helix formed in Manhattan Bch, CA as a rock ensemble in 1990, heavily influenced by an 80s rock sound (The Police, The Outfield, Stevie Ray Vaughan). They released one self-produced album entitled, 'Peace Face' in 1994 on indie label, Arcturian Gate. The founding members are, Richard Gannaway (lead vocals, bass and acoustic guitar), Andy Georges (Electric lead guitar, backing vocals) and Mike Lawrence (drums). Jay Oliver was touring with Jimmy Buffett during the year the group originally formed, and though not a founding member, he recorded the keyboard parts on the album. All members are originally from St. Louis, MO, and recorded the Peace Face LP in their home studio on the US west coast. Originally, the band had no intention of touring; though performed in Los Angeles venues. After the ralbum's release, lead singer, Richard Gannaway toured the project throughout Western Europe with backing musicians from Eastern Canada before retiring the project in late 1996... Richard Gannaway and Jay Oliver went on to form the acclaimed world music ensemble, Aomusic, featuring Miriam Stockley (the voice of Karl Jenkins' 'Adiemus' project). Andy Georges is also actively involved in the Aomusic sessions.
