Tennessee Concerts is seeking bands of all genres to be its next "Featured Band of the Month." Selected bands will be profiled in the Music City Beat! newsletter that is sent to several thousand music industry professionals -- including managers, promoters, engineers and artists. Winners will also have their links, photos and bio posted on TennesseeConcerts.com for the 2008 calendar year.

Bands who submit will be reviewed and selected by Gary Allen, drummer, and president of Loud Music Inc. BMI. He personally critiques his favorite submissions and posts his comments on TennesseeConcerts.com. Each month, Gary will pick a winner from each of the following 10 categories: Rock, Americana, Folk, Country, Instrumental, Jazz, Acoustic, Singer/Songwriter, Pop, and Alternative.

Gary is especially interested in Americana, blues, country, jam band, rock, southern rock, R&B and soul styles, both instrumental and with vocals. Selected artists will have their music played at The Housecat Gigs, during breaks at the Rhythm Kitchen, a prestigious venue frequented by artists, writers, publishers and promoters. Music City Nights! is taped at the venue on Tuesdays, live on the internet and Gary Allen is the host of the house band and musicians' jam band.

Born in Music City, Gary stepped from a school bus to a tour bus touring the planet with The Charlie Daniels Band. Gary Allen has performed on tour along with The Rolling Stones, Joe Walsh, Chili Peppers, Eric Clapton, Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blue Oyster Cult, Willie Dixon, The Outlaws, John Lee Hooker, Roger McGuinn, Peter Frampton, Eddie Money, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Ted Nugent, Bob Seeger, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, John Hammond, Bruce Springsteen, Little Feat, War, Yes, and ZZ Top.

Cooch Music has launched its 11th Amateur Songwriting Competition. The International songwriting contest began in 1999 giving songwriters, bands and musicians the ability to enter a contest that is aimed at amateurs (writers who make less then $5000 a year in royalties) only)!

goNorth is a festival for contemporary and cutting edge music of all genres. It aims to highlight the best emerging talent from Scotland and some of the best new contenders from the rest of the UK and further.

goNorth was launched in 2001 so acts from Northern Scotland and the Highlands & Islands could showcase in front of music industry and media representatives, on their own patch. The event also features seminars and Q&A sessions aimed at helping emerging artists, managers and labels.

Traditionally hosted in several venues on Aberdeen's Belmont Street, goNorth has become the largest newcomer festival in Scotland, with over 60 bands performing over two nights in 2008. GoNorth 2008 will be in Dundee on June 5-6, 2008. Sonicbids will be sponsoring a stage this year - and all 8 performance slots will be reserved for Sonicbids artists. The Sonicbids stage will feature rock n' roll artists only; however, electronic, acoustic, singer/songwriter and folk artists may apply for consideration for other stages at the festival.

goNorth features acts from all contemporary music genres, with the line-up split equally between artists from the Highlands, other parts of Scotland and the rest of the world. In recent years bands from the USA, Scandinavia, The Netherlands and the Basque Country have performed. Selected artists are compensated with a small payment for their performance. Moreover, the event boasts strong links with a number of international partners including Music Export Norway, Moving on Music Northern Ireland with which it jointly hosts an event at Manchester's In The City. Since 2004 goNorth has featured dedicated showcases hosted by several labels and publications including: The Fence Collective, Is This Music? and Planet Boo.

The event boasts media partnerships with The Fly, Record Of The Day, BBC Radio 1 Evening Session in Scotland, Is This Music? Music News Scotland and Music Week, with the latter producing a cover mount CD.

The Ann Arbor Summer Festival is an annual celebration of performing arts, outdoor entertainment and community spirit. Heading into its 25th year, the three-week event offers dozens of performances, events, activities, exhibitions and more, with eclectic music, dance, theater, film, visual arts and family fun. Founded in 1983, the Festival attracts more than 60,000 people each year from the local community and throughout Southeast Michigan. This year's festival is being held at Ingalls Mall on the campus of the University of Michigan, from June 13, 2008 to July 6, 2008.

As part of its program, the festival produces an outdoor music and movie series called Top of the Park. Focusing primarily on local and regional artists, the admission-free event is the perfect complement to the national and international scope of the festival's ticketed indoor performance series. For 24 consecutive nights, Top of the Park features free concerts, free movies, food by local restaurants, a beer garden and a place for family and friends to meet.

The Top of the Park shows are broadly accessible to the general public, and highlight a wide range of local, regional and national talent. The schedule typically features 50 musical acts, and the line-up includes more than 20 bands that were making their first appearance at Top of the Park. Submissions are evaluated based on type of performance, content, quality, diversity and potential audience appeal. Selected artists are compensated for their performance.

Recent performers who played Top of the Park include Matt Wertz, Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers, Brian Vander Ark, Shawn Mullins, Ari Hest, Tally Hall, Cigar Store Indians, Lady Sunshine and the X-Band, Like Water Drum and Dance, Nomo, Orquesta La Inspiracion, The Sun Messengers, Madcat and Kane, George Bedard & the Kingpins and many others.

PLEASE NOTE: The promoter will consider submissions from national artists who are touring through the area (backline not provided), but they are primarily looking to book talent from Southeast Michigan. In an effort to encourage local and regional artists to apply, they have lowered the submission fee for Michigan-based artists. POPPED! Festival's mission is to provide Philadelphia with a sustainable, independently produced, all-ages outdoor music festival featuring genre-spanning local and national performances while bringing global media exposure to Philadelphia.

The fifth annual Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival will take place at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth Notch, Vermont this Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31st, 2008. The concerts, which feature 7 total performers, will team nationally known stars with Vermont and regionally known musicians. The concerts are free; donation is suggested. The concerts will be held, rain or shine.

The Plymouth Folk and Blues Concerts are looking for submissions from acoustic acts (solo performers or a band with up to three people) to fill out their line-up for this year's festival. 2 spots are reserved for Sonicbids artists.

This is the fifth annual PFBC, and last year's event drew between 400-500 fans. Artists will be paid $250 for their performances, along with private room and board, for non-local acts.

Plymouth Folk was as a 2007 Top Ten Fall Event by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and was listed in 2006 by the Boston Globe online as the top event in all of New England for Labor Day Weekend. Past performers include Jay Ottaway, Erin Sax, Rebecca Hall, Ken Anderson and Alastair Moock.
