Bio

New York-based composer and classically-trained pianist, Rebecca Brandt truly has a sound all her own. Her debut album "Numbers & Shapes" is comprised of 14 original compositions, written and orchestrated for 30+ instruments, all recorded live. Her music blends a variety of genres, mainly focusing on electro-acoustic, contemporary classical, and electronic sounds. Yet each song is unique and takes its own shape, often playing on jazz or world rhythms; one track is influenced by post-rock, another is ambient and dreamy, another is more traditionally classical.

Rebecca is also an accomplished orchestrator and arranger. "Numbers & Shapes" features a wide array of interesting instrumentations, ranging from solo piano to string quartet to a mixture of woodwinds, guitars and electronic synths, to a 32-piece orchestra on the last track.

Along with her solo work, Rebecca writes music for a variety of film and multimedia projects. She has written original commercial spots sent to major clients such as Kellogg's, Mattel, MTV and Audio through music production house The Lodge. She scored the short Chinese film "Play," which recently won the Jury Award at the Directors Guild of America Awards.

Rebecca studied music composition and film scoring at NYU, graduating cum laude with honors in 2009.
