“Pure Hearted Intellectual Man of Paradigm”

Native of Chicago land, (Waukegan, Illinois) artist/ song writer and producer, RodneyPhimp has always had a love for music. He recalls as a child picking up a heavy, old school tape recorder and lugging it in his backpack to school every day, as if it were a well needed book. "I picked it up and never put it back down," he says. Phimp started out writing raps for himself and his friends, always dreaming of the good life and making it past those project walls. He soon came to realize that in order to reach a dream, one has to be willing to work hard for them. As he got older he became knowledgeable with drum machines thanks to his uncle, in which he learned the basics from. Aside from learning that the music industry is a dog eat dog business, Phimp decided to go back school sooner than planned after the passing of his grandmother, and the weight of a promise to her that could not be broken. With that in mind he enrolled in a college geared toward audio engineering and the music industry. Graduating with honors he left with a better understanding and was more prepared for the music business. Now it is time for the world to prepare their ears for a new and creative sound.

RodneyPhimp ranges from performing in comfy coffee houses to winning awards from industry panelists, such as Demo Fast Break (DFB). The DFB's panel includes top executives in the entertainment and music industries who provide helpful tips to aspiring artists. They consist of music producers and record companies responsible for soundtracks for the Exorcist, Resident Evil, and music direction for Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, and many others. They described RodneyPhimp's music as being hot and the next big thing.

Inspiration for his music has derived from various artist and various genres. His sound carries urban poetry and his lyrics are witty and thought provoking. The name Phimp stands for "Pure Hearted Intellectual Man of Paradigm". A paradigm can be defined as a typical example or pattern of something; a model, in other words "Conscious Music". It is with that model that the artist RodneyPhimp brings the much needed originality into the music realm, touching issues with songs like "D.C.F.S." and reminding one to enjoy life with his more upbeat tempos such as "For Real". He possesses stage presence that is as impeccably strong and as clear as his lyrics; "wrapping" his subjects around each and every verse. Armed with the mental tools and knowledge, a unique style and swag, he exclaims "I am more than ready for this!" With respect for art in all forms, Paradigm's primary Goal is to bring back what we call "REAL MUSIC" to the industry, and most importantly the people.
