"Venture into New Realms with Surrealized"

What talented local duo has more soul than Air, is more organic than Moby, and encase themselves in a kaleidoscopic light show resembling the likes of Ghostland Observatory and Ratatat? Need a hint? They will be opening for Manooghi Hi on Saturday night at the Crocodile. If you guessed Surrealized, then you are definitely in-the-know with Seattle’s underground psychedelic music scene. If you didn’t know on the other hand…don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Capitalizing on each other’s expertise, beat maestro Rob Anonymous and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Kimo Muraki come together and mash an eclectic mix of musical genres. In fact, because Surrealize incorporates such a different mix of sounds ranging from Electronica and Indie-Rock to Soul and Alternative Country, that any attempt to categorize its sound is akin to deciphering the shapes of those famous inkblots in a Rorschach test…pretty much any description fits.

Yet, the music that Rob and Kimo produce is more than just a concoction of different sounds. It is an experiment that ventures towards creating a new mode of communication between artist and audience. It is an effort to engage one another on a higher level of consciousness where trust and creativity abound. So, if you have a chance, head over to the Crocodile Saturday, July 17, 2010 and experience Surrealize for yourself. Who knows, it may just turn out to be the cathartic experience your soul has been seeking all this time. - Seattle Music and Blog.com

"Music You Need to Know About: SURREALIZED"

...In an industry where re-hashing, trend-driven creative-commodity marketing and categorization addicts rule, SURREALIZED refuses this absolutism. They borrow the best parts of electronic and psychedelic, but incorporate beats and sounds from all over the musical spectrum with impunity and perfect grace...(at the risk of sounding like a total hippie) wrap yourself in a blanket of audio love, and be warmed. It may just change the way you experience live music forever. Check your cynicism and expectations at the door – you won’t need them there... - Les Sterling, Seattlegayscene.com

"Surrealized: Seattle's Latest Electric Eclectics"

"Surrealized, a new electronic duo, brings Rob Anonymous (Miss Solar System), behind the beats, together with Kimo Muraki (17th Chapter, Super Sonic Soul Pimps), on guitar and vocals. Both musicians have been a part of many bands in the local Seattle scene and their new project has hit the ground running. Thick beats, soul grabbing vocal layers and guitar work rock the listener. Stay tuned, they'll come around again!" - SPIN Earth article by Ken Roeder

"Nada Mucho Magazine Review"

"Surrealized has more grooves and hooks to them than an entire season of Dangerous Catch. Their self-titled EP takes their passionate, empowered and brilliant live show and tries to reconstruct it with five of their best. Every song is truly a highlight, but "God/Man/Machine" and "Hesitate" really showcase what this duo do best: slick electro-rock dance music. If you like Calvin Harris, Above & Beyond and even New Order you will enjoy what you hear here. However, seeing them live is a whole worldly different experience. When I listen to the recorded songs I recall what happened on stage; the smart joke that drew you in; Rob's orchestric knob turning; Kimo's vocal range and instrument bravado without coming across as a multi-instrumental egomaniac. Everything stated has a purpose, every instrument has a part, and the audience has a role within their Surrealized world... and it's a damn beautiful thing.
8 out of 10" - Red Lehman

"Jodi Kaufer comments on Surrealized!"

"A glorious mish-mash of electronica, indie, rock, and most points in between... Kimo Muraki’s smooth vocals along with the group’s synth-pop/electronica sound gives me the urge to move." - Seattle Show Gal

Bio

SURREALIZED is the fusion of the wildly disparate creative sensibilities of Rob Anonymous and Kimo Muraki. Bringing an ethereal voice and a visceral, multi-instrumental relationship with the acoustic, KIMO MURAKI spent time working with artists Ed Harcourt, Fences, Aqueduct, Hallways, Soko, The Maldives, Michael Vermillion and Shawn Smith. ROB ANONYMOUS brings a savant's sense of beat and fearless mastery of the electronic, having worked with such artists as Miss Solar System, Mentats, Beehive, Fading Collection and Kevin Sawka. Joined by the crackling drumming of JAY WILSON, Surrealized's creation is an aural adventure, delivered on a wave of light and video provided by MICHAEL "FELIX" FELICETTY and MATHEW GROAT -- a spectacle beyond mere hearing -- producing an experience that is at once unearthly, yet utterly uncomplicated. Beats and bass that evoke feeling and memory, layered with guitars and banjo, whipped by brisk winds of coronet and sax, and enveloped in the warm embrace of a voice that will deliver you safely home from your journey.
