In 1987, Deele lead vocalist Dee, bass player Kayo, touring percussionist/keyboard player Daryl Simmons, drummer L.A. Reid and keyboardlvocalist Babyface all contributed their talents to the writing, production and performance of The Whispers Just Gets Better With Time release resulting in a Top Ten single with "Rock Steady". In addition to The Whispers Dee, Kayo, L.A. and Daryl also contributed to fellow band member Babyface's debut solo effort Lovers. This album produced three Top Ten R&B hits "Mary Mack", "Lovers" and "love You Babe" with two of these hits being co-written by Dee, Kayo, L.A. and Daryl starting a slew of outside projects that would begin dominating the charts.
