Bio

Lead Guitar: Dave Schmitz began rocking the guitar almost 11 years ago, and has found nothing more that he would rather do. A junior musical compostion major at Xavier University, Dave spends his time away from the band doing other things associated with music. He is a classical guitar player, as well the guitar man in the XU Jazz Ensemble. A Pink Floyd guitarist at heart, Dave finds the groove from all spectrums of music to help create a sound that is truly individual to The Hill.

Bass: Jeremy Gould is a sophomore liberal arts major at University of Cincinnati who has been playing the bass for "not that long, but long enough to jam." Growing up with a father who played drums, Jeremy always had the sense and ambition to find the groove. When he began studying the finger funk techniques of Jaco Pastorius and the master slapper Victor Wooten, his own style truly began to come forth. After taking private bass lessons, he found his range was limitless and looks to help revolutionize the bass playing of the modern music scene.

Drums/Percussion: Julio Martinez was born in Nicaragua, Central America and came to the United States when he was three years old with his family. A sophmore at XU, he has been playing the drums for 8 years, and finally found a band that he can call his own. In his spare time he is involved with an array of musical groups at Xavier including the Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir and XU Symphonic Band. The newest member of The Hill, the rest of the band insists that he was born to play the drums in this group.

Rhythm Guitar/ Vocals: Chris Hogue has been singing since he was born and been involved with choirs since the age of three. A Senior at XU, he began playing the guitar about four years ago and has learned enough to "add what I need to where I need to." He is involved with the XU Jazz Ensemble as the male vocalist, and works downtown as well as going to school. "I cant imagine myself with anyone else," is what he thinks about the group, and that seems to be true about all the members.

Saxophone: Santtu Potticary is a Finish native that moved to Cincinnati when he was two. He has played music for as long as he can remember, playing the violin until he switched to the sax in the fourth grade. Studying at the School for Creative and Performing Arts for nine years, he mastered a range of music from jazz to classical. Although he works full time, he still manages to find the room to practice and play to help make the music of The Hill what it is today.
