"Source Magazine Premieres Tijon's Eastside"

20,000 pounds of ego/wash it down with some vino…

When you’re about to break bread over pizza with your posse, who do you pray to? Tijon from the Eastside of Jersey rightfully prays to Christopher Wallace. In the same vein as Biggie, Tijon rocks a steady flow with humor and threats for the competition.

Off of DJ Juanyto’s Young New York, Tijon’s latest video shows him fending off an eviction notice and kicking it with his friends (ice cream sandwich sculptures and tutting included) in what is no longer his house. It starts and ends with a few words of respect towards East Coast rappers that have come before Tijon. They should teach this along with the Pledge of Allegiance to elementary school kids.

Here are Tijon’s thoughts on the record:

“DJ Juanyto just hit me up and said he wanted something on this Young New York tape. He sent me over Biggie’s “The What.” I had to add to the beat to make it my own but I started the song with a little prayer to big for touching such a classic. There’s been so much half a$$ sampling of BIG’s stuff recently too and that was frustrating me around the same time so it was cool to just go off on this.”

Tijon, a New Jersey based artist, was introduced to the entertainment industry at 16 starting a custom painted sneaker company which led to wardrobe design and music video work with the Dipset and many other well known NY rappers. Being around the music scene his writing and production talents were tapped into and turned into a solo music career. In his short time on the scene the 24 year old has shared stages with Fabolous, J.cole, MGK, Meek Millz, Ty$ and Schoolboy Q to name a few, finished 2nd place in Jimmy Kimmel's National Music Search, won 1st place in Monse's Hot97 Showcase, was featured on Hot 97's Who's Next concert series, and did a week of shows at SXSW 2014 in Austin, Texas. His electric live show is bringing a new brand of energy to hip hop with elements of live music, great crowd interaction, and a new sound that gets the crowd buzzing about what they just saw. These results have lead to numerous sold out shows around his hometown area.

Tijon has also caught the attention of such blogs as Ashely Outrageous, Barrelhousebklyn, ThatsEnuff, YouHeardThatNew, and InFlexWeTrust, just off the love for his music. In 2014 Steppin' Out Magazine praised Tijon's writing style saying "at
first you don't realize the substance Tijon's songs hold because they
play out so free and easy." He has been credited as "the next great songwriter", with layers of substance in his lyrics while maintaining really catchy flow's and contagious hooks.

Tijon's name has been swirling around his local scene as well as building a nice buzz in the NYC area. With his unique style, and all around unique sound, Tijon will remain that breath of fresh air people have been waiting for.
