Headed into its 20th year, The University of New Mexico Fiestas is a long standing tradition, produced by ASUNM Student Special Events at the University of New Mexico.
Around 1,500 students attend to celebrate the end of the Spring semester and partake in an all-morning community service project at this free all-day outdoor music festival. This year's Fiestas will be held April 21st, 2007 at UNM's Johnson Field.
All genres are accepted and artists are paid a flat fee for their performance. Compensation is based on the event budget and the artist’s expected draw. Performances take place on one stage and usually feature four to six emerging acts who open for a national headliner.
Performers will have the chance to share the stage with national headlining acts. Past headliners have included:
Reel Big Fish, Simple Plan, Lisa Loeb and The Donnas.
UNM (
26,000 students) is located on Route 66 (the junction of I-25 and I-40) in the heart of Albuquerque New Mexico (population 600,000).
