Indierockers Venus Flytrap are among the few who have discovered the volume switch on their guitar amps. Apart from pumping up the volume, they also manage to put the volume down. Therefore their second album Hoovering varies from noisy outbursts to sweet whispers. Experimenting in the studio as well as on stage- one of the most dangerous traps for any band- doesn’t put this band out of balance either. It’s a sonic experiment that never loses focus on the song.
2009 marks the US release of their new album Come With Us:
Darker and heavier than ever before, with screaming guitars, bold, tight bass and drums, noise, and electronic soundscapes. The result is a hypnotic indie ‘wall of sound’, reminiscent of Motorpsycho, Sonic Youth and dEUS.
What begins as a friendly invitation, quickly takes on an eerie tone. A Lonely Hearts club of smiling dolls gathers before a looming skyline. If Chucky can engender fear in a suburb, an army of Chuckies can drive the whole metropolis to insanity.
Satanic temptation, untamable desire and existential undertones…Come With Us traverses the immense depths of the human soul. You feel like a nocturnal wanderer roaming the city, encountering dead end after dead end, but always finding a way out.
