Flowing over keys, horn, bass and cello, William Von Hoene’s (Von) lyrics provoke listeners into trance as they attempt to linger on every last word. Even acapella, Von spits with a distinctive international flair reminiscent of Talib Kweli’s classic technique.
Von is the long anticipated continuation of a legacy of quality lyricists sprung from Chicago’s south side. Once a regular at Stanford University spoken word and open-mic showcases, Von has been focusing on his craft since acquiring a BA in sociology and minor in creative writing.
And opening for the likes of The Roots and Mos Def certainly hasn’t thrown a wrench in the gears for Von, who released his debut album “The Show is Over� in June 2008. Currently the enthusiastic mc is writing new music and performing for hip-hop heads all over the midwest.
