Here at Sonicbids, we love music. At last count, the Sonicbids team included 4 drummers, 7 guitar players, 1 bassist, 1 DJ, 3 vocalists, 2 saxophonists, 1 trombonist, 1 lyricist/rapper, and an extremely wide variety of music lovers. In this crazy online world it's easy to forget that there are real, flesh-and-blood people behind all those Web sites. In our case, we're talking about real, flesh-and-blood people who care about music. So take a few minutes to read on and learn more about our growing team.
And speaking of our growing team: If you'd like to join it, check out our job openings here.

Panos Panay
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Panos is the founder of Sonicbids – a convenient excuse for why his bio is longer than everyone else's on this page. His childhood dream of being alternatively the next Diego Maradona or Eddie Van Halen came to an end when each canceled the other out. The idea for Sonicbids came to him while reading the book "Blur" and decided to go for it in September of 2000. Before that, he worked in the “dark side” of the music business as an international talent agent. Panos hails from Cyprus and is a self-described "voracious" reader, usually traveling with more magazines than clothes (that’s a lot). He graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1994 with a degree in Music Business. In 2005 Panos was named one of Fast Company Magazine's "Fast 50" entrepreneurs and he is currently serving on a number of non-profit boards including Boston Young Entrepreneurs (which he co-founded); Berklee College of Music's Presidential Advisory Council; and Boston World Partnerships, chaired by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. He is a diehard supporter of English football club Arsenal and by last count he owns over 35 jerseys of The Gunners dating back to 1983 (when he saw Charlie Nicholas score at Highbury vs. Southampton). He loves his coffee extra strong and blames Elvis for his lifelong fascination with America.

Claudia Caliano
Executive Assistant to Founder and CEO
Claudia (it’s ”clou-dee-uh” not “claw-dia”) joined Sonicbids as the Executive Assistant to our Founder and CEO, Panos. She is a native of the world’s chocolate capital - Switzerland (aka “Sweden” to you Americans) with Italian roots, who speaks German, Italian, French and English (poorly), and considers herself a citizen of the world. When she isn’t wrestling wolves and bears with her bare hands for sports, Claudia spends time with an adorable dog named Isabelle and her ferret, Flintstone (it breathes fire!) Before crossing the big pond to pursue a degree in Music Business/Management from Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Claudia worked in Sales Operations for Microsoft’s online platform MSN. She enjoys travel, outdoors, any food containing bacon, and driving fast cars with manual transmission: “Automatic is for suckers.” Despite being European, Claudia puts the CAN in AmeriCAN!

Stephen Canfield
Branded Marketing Account Manager
Stephen grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia with good friends, great family, and even better crab cakes. As an outlet for the pain of being a Baltimore Orioles fan, he picked up a guitar at age ten and began writing about the despair the failing franchise brought to his near-perfect existence. Ten years later he bought an incredibly thick jacket and headed up north to study frostbite and Music Business at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Obsessions include, but are not limited to: Carolina basketball, everything Bob Dylan or The Band ever touched, and his own quest to write that perfect song. He hates: high scores on the golf course, watching the Tar Heels lose in the NCAA tournament, New England’s lack of Waffle Houses, and most everything that’s “fergalicious.”

He provides sanity and experience from his time at Monster.com where he was CFO overseeing Internet Advertising, a $180 million division of the company; CFO of Ziggs.com (a people search company) and of Tidalwire (a networking hardware distribution company); and as Director of Finance at Send.com (an e-commerce and marketing services company).

Mike Caulo
Member Relations Representative
Mike knew it was time to get a real job when he was sitting on his couch eating Bugles for breakfast and watching The Price is Right for the 4th consecutive day. Bob Barker was about to step away from daytime television, Mike saw this as a sign and did the same. With previous experience working for a promotions company, a record label/management firm, a deep space project, a fledgling music festival, and more, he decided to put it all down on a sheet of paper and show it to Sonicbids. When they realized Mike loved helping artists as much as the company does, he was asked to do it for a living. When not doing just that, Mike can be found wearing too much flannel, having too much fun with delay pedals, and loving the Boston music scene.

Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst

Shawn joins the Sonicbids team with over 4 years of experience in Reporting. You may also remember him as the person who rang the doorbell for his first interview (Smooth). He grew up in Assonet which is a very small town in southern Massachusetts not really known for anything! After graduating from Bryant University with a degree in computer information systems, Shawn decided there wasn’t enough traffic in Providence and moved to Boston. In his spare time he enjoys watching Discovery channel, snowboarding, and playing with his Australian Shepherd Nismo!

Jerry Cohen
Database Developer
The only time Jerry ever performed before an audience was when he used to play Nadia's theme on the piano for his little sister. The pay wasn't great, but he had 100% audience approval. Feeling he wouldn't be able to improve on that, Jerry has devoted his life since then to creating and maintaining databases. From his various jobs as an in-house DBA, a consultant, and a developer, Jerry has learned many lessons about database implementation - mostly the hard way. Nowadays, it's Jerry's job to make sure that all the artist and gig information from the Sonicbids website is safely tucked away and available to all who need it. In his spare time, Jerry enjoys theater, traveling, hanging out with friends and making comments that get him into trouble.

Cassandra Crawford
Web Developer

Fortunately for Cassandra, her true talent is in software development. Her musical talent almost exclusively includes being the person next to you in traffic singing in her car and looking crazy. She does have a degree in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M, though, which was her ticket in the door at Sonicbids. Outside of work, Cassandra is an avid sports fan who attends every Celtics game (over 43 per year!) and reserves over ten hours each Sunday to watch NFL games during football season. She was a multiple sport athlete in high school and her list of favorite teams includes the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys. Cassandra’s other interesting skills include the ability to make homemade guacamole, operating television broadcast graphics machines and driving in Boston traffic.

Tess Cychosz
Member Relations Manager
It wasn’t easy for Tess to leave her exotic homeland of Waukesha, WI (the very town that produced the legendary Les Paul!) in the fall of 2004. Nonetheless, her work at Emerson College and WERS – 88.9FM has provided her with the tools to achieve her ultimate goal: ruling at life. In addition to graduating early in the Audio/Radio program with a minor in Business Management, Tess is able to further achieve her goal by participating in super-cool activities such as painting flowers, scrap-booking, and reading classic literature. In other matters, her idea of heaven is a concert featuring Queen, David Bowie, and Michael Jackson. You agree with her…yes, deep down you truly do.

By day, Jennifer is the mild-mannered Marketing Manager at Sonicbids. At night you can find her in dark nightclubs, unleashing minimal chords with maximum volume on a white Italia guitar. With over 15 years of sales and marketing experience in the music industry at Strawberries Records & Tapes, Rounder Records, Distribution North America, Sub Pop, Joyce Linehan Artist Management and Berklee College of Music, combined with over ten years of blood, sweat & tears in Boston bands, the result is marketing fury at Sonicbids.

Bob is from Baltimore, the land of lacrosse, but he was brought to Boston by Berklee College of Music. A Music Business major, he is also an avid ukulele player and fan of such stylistically diverse bands as Yes, Steely Dan, Jay-Z, and Andrew Bird. Director of Marketing
Darlene’s first concert was Milli Vanilli (evidence of her refined musical taste at a young age). Her life has been evenly divided between Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She studied journalism and dance at UNH, and has spent the past 10+ years working in marketing communications. While her dream of becoming a fly girl on In Living Color didn’t pan out, Darlene does perform with a modern dance company based in Newburyport, MA. She loves cheese, wine, sunshine, building on her collection of jeans and buying more magazines than she can possibly read.

David Ellis
Promoter Relations Account Manager
When Putnam Valley, NY’s seminal punk band The Imaginary Friends disbanded in 1999, the world was turned upside down. Legions of fans were left craving more. All three band members released solo records but none of them could achieve the success of TIF’s only studio record, “Getting Rid of the Evidence”… except one.
When David Ellis released his first solo album "Tell Us David Ellis" in 2000, he achieved more critical and commercial success than the Zack Attack or even Wyld Stallions, the rock band that changed the world. After spending a grueling 5 years on the road, recording 47 subsequent platinum albums and a VH1 “celebreality” show, showbiz life became too much for David and he settled down in Boston where he now works for Sonicbids in the Promoter Relations Department. Although he no longer misses the flash bulbs of the paparazzi, David misses the fans and wants to assure them that the comeback tour is on the way!!

Ford joined the Sonicbids team in late 2004 after serving as Chief Operating Officer at Musictoday, a leading provider of online merchandise, ticketing and fanclub services for the music industry. After spending 8 years at Musictoday he moved to Boston as a player to be named later in the Nomar Garciaparra trade. Ford is a 1997 graduate of the University of Virginia and a lifelong devotee to the Hoos. In between seasons, he operates a very small and very independent record label called Transaction Records to record and release homemade music with several co-conspirators. Originally from Texas, he hearts great Mexican food, weird music and space travel.

Brandon Green
Member Relations Representative

Brandon grew up in a small Connecticut town named after a fruit and/or some rich British guy. He grew up on classical piano, 90s rock and cheesy reality TV. After being convinced that you actually CAN make a living doing something you love, he decided to attend Northeastern University and study music. This brought him to the Artist Relations department at Sonicbids, where he spends his days trying to make sense of this seemingly dysfunctional music industry. In his spare time, you can find him rocking out on the bass and writing music for his instrumental progressive rock band, Bushwhack. Run into Brandon and be prepared to talk about your favorite recent albums, what it’s like being just about the only Mets fan in Boston. Or just repeat some hilarious movie quote to get him going. Fun fact: he’s really an Eagle Scout!

Brian Hatfield
IT Lead
Once upon a time, Brian was the stereotypical computer geek. Overweight and awkward, he preferred to spend his time in his lair (read: bedroom at parents' house) gathering knowledge and fiddling with computers late into the night. This turned into an outright passion, the peak of which saw him as a coordinator for Massachusetts' two largest LAN parties - setting up equipment and taking pictures of hundreds of computer geeks who showed up to play video games in one huge room. However, times have changed. He is now 31% slimmer and prefers to spend his free time out-of-doors - running, hiking mountains, climbing on things around the country and riding his bicycle or motorcycle. Fortunately, Brian uses the knowledge hoarded in his lair (see previous) for the good of Sonicbids: He's the IT guy, here to improve things, keep things running or fix them when they break. And, though he may no longer have his lair to hide in, he's still a geek at heart.

Brad Holmes
Member Relations Representative
Hailing from the mean streets of suburban Washington, DC, Brad decided to do what any self-respecting Southerner would do after high school… move to Boston so he could be constantly ridiculed for his sexy southern drawl and get intimately acquainted with frostbite. A life long music fanatic, Brad grew up splitting his time between the hardcore and metal scenes of DC and Baltimore. That is, until the Wu-Tang Clan came along and ruined his life forever. It was at this point that Brad discovered his love for hip hop and DJing (albeit poorly). Brad went on to become the whitest hip hop DJ in Boston, holding down the decks nightly on WERS 88.9 FM during his stint at Emerson College. Bringing 10 years of experience in radio and promotions to the table, Brad is thrilled to be a part of the Sonicbids team. In his spare time, you can find Brad snowboarding, occupying various barstools, and working to, one day, be this good (RIP Raida).

Kyle Hughes
Business Development Associate

Kyle Hughes moved east from his small, northern California town of Ukiah to attend NYU in the fall of 2007, leaving behind his mother and father, 2 dogs, a cat, and great Mexican food, and open space. After graduating the music business program at NYU, during which he worked as a sexual behavior research assistant for a book to be released later this year to make ends meat, Kyle joined the Sonicbids team and moved to Boston, this time leaving behind the models, hipsters, and bars that say open past 1am. Without a constant supply of fresh pasta and organic tomatoes, Kyle becomes very grumpy. So send him gifts. Kyle also flies airplanes, can cook anything, and will challenge you to a game of “In Which Star Wars Movie Did That Happen?”, or “Who Knows More Tobias Funke Quotations From Arrested Development”.

Aliki Ioannides
Marketing Program Specialist
While other kids were glued in front of their TVs playing Atari, you could find Aliki either sitting in front of her piano practicing Bach and Chopin, or prancing around in her pointy ballet shoes (here’s the part where you go “Awww”). When it was time for her to decide what she would study and ultimately do with her life, it came down to this: should she be a modern day Liberace (minus a few shiny beads sewn on clothes)? Or manage the next Liberace’s career? Well, the business side of music eventually won her over, and off she was from the sunny island of Cyprus (picture mile-long beaches, warm weather and souvlaki shops at each corner) to come to Boston, to study Music Business/Management at Berklee College of Music, where the terms “frostbite” and “frizzy hair” became all too familiar. Just before graduating, she stumbled across the marvelous world of Sonicbids, in which she eventually joined and now lives happily ever after as the marketing coordinator. You’ll get on Aliki’s good side if you (really) like Chopin, cute tops, coffee (preferably served in an IV), pop/dance/electronic music (she is from Europe after all) and post-its.

When he isn't busy getting recognized on the street (he
is, after all, the Sonicbids Lifetime Handsomeness Achievement Award Winner --

Sonicbids members. After 3 years as the Manager of the Artist Relations
department, Benjy joined Sonicbids' Business Development team to move towards
his goal of making artists happy by continuing to find unique and interesting
gigs. Benjy's favorite movie from the 1980s is "The Last Dragon," and
the punch line to his favorite joke is, "Some folks just can't tell a

Museum of American Soul Music, and recommends it to any musician.

Vice President, Business Development

Andy's career has taken him to Boston’s FOX25, WBCN-FM and for over 15 years in executive management at the
Phoenix Media Communications Group. As Senior Vice President of the PMCG, Andy managed all operations,
sales, marketing and programming of its 10 media outlets including Boston’s legendary alternative rocker WFNX-FM, the Boston
Phoenix newspaper group, Stuff@Night
magazine and the PMCG’s online properties at ThePhoenix.com. He was General Manager of the PMCG's 4 rock stations for over 10 years and led the creation of the FNX Radio Network. As a true “Vermonter,” Andy is an avid outdoorsman and passionate
about skiing, golf, fly fishing and mud season. Unfortunately Andy’s quest to
become lead singer of alternative rock band, “How’s Ure Onion” was quickly discouraged by his family given
his lack of vocal talent. In early
2008, having not fulfilled his dreams of skiing in the Olympics, playing hockey
for the Bruins or singing in a rock band, Andy decided to join the Sonicbids team and achieve
much more exciting goals in the years ahead.

Ellie Krysl
Graphic Designer
Hailing from the geographic center of America, Ellie had the four points of the compass at her disposal when it was time to pick a new home. Fortunately for Sonicbids, she chose to come East! An artist in love with all things art, for whom music and fashion are always the passion—as well as belly dancing, painting, playing Dutch Blitz and watching movies with her drummer husband— Ellie also likes to pay the rent and eat, which is why she became a graphic designer. If she’s not at work, she is most likely: riding the Superman at Six Flags; not cooking; maintaining her pogo stick mastery; or enjoying a healthy dinner of TCBY and dill pickles.

Her love affair with music began at an early age, and by 12 she was begging her parents to drive her to shows on a regular basis. After a short stint as an Interior Design major, Christina realized the world of music was calling her name and promptly moved to Boston to pursue a Music Industry degree from Northeastern University – which she regards as one of the best decisions she’s made. She started working at the Paradise Rock Club ripping tickets, and eventually became the Booking Manager of the Paradise Lounge. Heidi Lasker
Promoter Relations Manager
Heidi joined Sonicbids in August of 2003 and has had a smile on her face ever since. A fan of anything argyle, Heidi is best known by promoters and colleagues for her particularly loud voice, which an experienced heavy-metal sound technician once called "the most powerful voice I have ever freakin' heard." Heidi has embraced this trait by providing "soulful backup vocals "(Boston Globe, 9/5/04) in the greatest band on earth, EJ Labb & the Free Association (she is also the DJ aka DJ PJ). Before joining Sonicbids, Heidi worked for a bunch of companies and moonlit as a Bar and Bat Mitzvah DJ, often spending her Saturday evenings with 13-year-old kids. Since joining the music industry, she has started spending more time with people her age and now has a much better social life. Heidi graduated from the University of Maryland and enjoys talking sh*t to Ford about how the Terps are better than the UVA Wahoos.

Shortly after her graduation from Boston College, Tricia embarked into the internet space on a mission to develop world class product experiences. Mark Schafer
Listing Services Associate

Mark Schafer grew up in the very pleasant little town of Flemington, NJ, where he briefly played the trumpet. Later, he took up the guitar, which promptly ruined his life by diverting him from some other, more lucrative career he might have had (it was worth it!). At the age of 19, Mark Schafer left his Garden State homeland to earn a degree in Music Business from Berklee College of Music. When not thinking about bagels and New York-style pizza, he is associating with listings, riding his bicycle, eating Thai food, roasting his own coffee, and avoiding pickles like the plague. Mark spent some time in the big cities of London and New York before making his way back to his adopted hometown of Boston in August of 2009 to join the Sonicbids team and figure out why it is so famous for baked beans (does anyone really know?).

Jim Schultz
Business Development Manager

It all started with trash… Who knew that what began as a summer job picking up trash at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey, (BTW Jimmy Buffet fans by far drop the most stuff worth picking up at shows!), would lead to a decade and a half career in music, marketing shows for Metallica, and Soundgarden, managing the local marketing program initiatives for a billion dollar big box retailer, and handling artists the likes of Meatloaf, Herbie Hancock, Dar Williams, Los Lobos, and Jewel. Jim has seen this business from all sides, the venue, the tour, the retailer, the distributor, and the artist. As the son of a blues musician, he’s learned in this business what matters the most is the artist. Jim says, “The music business is like politics,” so it’s a good thing Jim holds a BA from Rutgers College in Political Science and an AAS in Accounting. Not only can he represent, he can count too!

While studying the music biz she was able to work as a receptionist by day, rock out on her fender strat by night, help run a student label and intern at Rounder Records. In her free time Jessica loves seeking new music and artists to obsess about. Her interests include exploring the greater outdoors, practicing her Spanish, songwriting, watching re-runs of that 70's show, playing tennis, and riding horses.

After growing up in the tropical oasis that is Cincinnati, Ohio, James returned to his birthplace of New England. After studying the art of radio and the music industry at Emerson College during two Boston Red Sox World Series wins, James joined the Sonicbids team. Though many assume his last name ties to the popular South Dakota bike rally, it actually comes from the rather mundane Sturgeon species of fish. Vice President of Marketing

Kimberly's musical roots can be traced back to her early childhood when she named all her Barbies "Olivia" for, you guessed it, the great Olivia Newton-John. Those early influences can still be heard while browsing through her iPod - oh the guilty pleasure of an over-produced pop song! Prior to joining Sonicbids in 2002 (we were just three people then!), Kimberly was the Director of Marketing for Oasis CD Manufacturing where she was responsible for developing, planning and executing company marketing programs and business development initiatives as well as overseeing online operations. Kimberly spent the better part of five years running online operations then marketing for Sonicbids prior to moving into her current advisory role. When Kimberly is not helping out here at Sonicbids, she is running marathons and triathlons - one Ironman, two half Ironman’s and two marathons in the last two years alone!
