"A SCRIBE AMIDST THE LIONS REVIEWED IN THE ONION"

“musically they’re nothing short of fascinating...more truly psychedelic than a truckload of paisley-shirted retro acts. Their debut full-length TELL does a fine job of capturing this, but live ASATL really get the chance to stretch out, weaving strains of melody through intricate walls of sound.” - The Onion - Milwaukee, WI [9.14.06 Vol. 42, issue 37]

"SAN DIEGO PUNK.COM ON ASATL'S DEBUT ["TELL"]"

"Every track is filled with a new story and a new sound to knock your socks off. For listeners who have been patiently waiting for something to intrigue your ears, your day has finally come." - www.sandiegopunk.com [Melissa Wells]

"THE MIDNIGHT STREETS REVIEW A SCRIBE AMIDST THE LIONS' DEBUT!"

"Once you tune into their unique and spell casting sound, you’ll be instantly hooked and addicted wanting to hear more. Withdrawal symptoms are severe." - www.themidnightstreets.com - Salt Lake City, UT

"BLOG SAN DIEGO PRAISES A SCRIBE AMIDST THE LIONS' DEBUT RELEASE!"

"The songs are epic. Every element is thought out, nothing left to chance...though certainly not predictable." - www.blogsandiego.com 12.23.06

"ASATL in REVOLT MAGAZINE [July 2007]"

"The songs on A Scribe Amidst The Lions' latest full-length release, entitled Tell, form a mesmerizing array of tempo changes and dynamic shifts, all executed with razor-sharp precision. Where other bands like them might lose focus and get lost in experimentation, A Scribe does a good job of emphasizing catchy vocal melodies and competent songcraft. Like Sparta, A Scribe... stands out in their genre by employing and ambient sound that explores musical peaks and valleys in a very engaging way. Their music is experimental and challenging, but quite rewarding in the end. Shades of The Mars Volta are strewn across this album, heard in the trippy guitar and keyboard effects of songs like "Lives Under Teeth" and "The Lidless Kind". Tell shows this band moving in a good direction, where interesting experimentation meets good songwriting, forming a unique sound that gives A Scribe Amidst The Lions a lot of promise."

After releasing their debut full-length in May of 2006 [TELL on Zenwhisper Recordings], A Scribe Amidst The Lions are gearing up to release their second full-length LP “SUNKEN CITIES”, and looking for label support. While TELL was recorded and mixed at the lavish Strate Sound Studios with Alan Sanderson [the incredible engineer behind records like Weezer’s “Green Album”, The Rolling Stone’s “Bridges To Babylon”, and countless other big records], most of the tracks for this second album have come from studio sessions with up and coming smaller, more attentive indie San Diego studios like Black Box Studios and Sushifish Studios.

From the album “SUNKEN CITIES”, one song has already been leaked and heard on San Diego radio FM94.9 – “Scripted Daydreams” - and the first proper single, “The Equator Swallowed The Boys” will be hitting the streets very, very soon.
