Biography

Calvin and Jesse Hughes started playing music together while growing up on a farm in a small New Hampshire town. It wasn't long after when the brothers became All Eyes Closed to the music world. After a few years attending school around the area and playing various venues throughout New England, the two headed west to Seattle in the summer of 2010 to further their music career. They were regulars on the local circuit and shared the stage with some of the Pacific Northwest’s best bands, including Lights from Space. With the addition of a bass player, the band's sound turned in diverse directions, deftly uniting the raw, grunge rock sound with the cleaner, indie rock stylings.

In 2012, the brothers took their sound to the Live Music Capital of the World in Austin, Texas. Not long after arriving in Austin, Calvin and Jesse recorded their first album since 2010. Their Royal Crest EP did not disappoint even the most myopic of listeners. Along with bass player Arthur Ihde, Calvin and Jesse took to the studio again in 2013 with their soon to be released Weathering the Fall album. All Eyes Closed continues their reputation of bringing to the stage an energetic show you won't want to miss.

Our Place

Written By: Calvin Hughes

Got a truck full of trash bags, a trunk full of beer, let’s hit the road
Grab your cigarette carton, your bottle full of beam, we aint comin’ home
Whiskey by the water, guitar in tow, let’s roll a joint

Cause up north, yeah, it’s way too cold
Let’s get down south, let’s get warm
I’ll grab my guitar, I’ll sing a song

Got my hands on the wheel, my eyes on the road, no time to waste
Pull up off the highway, let’s grab a beer, let’s have a taste
Cause the sun’s on the horizon, the rain’s to our back, this is our place

Someday, someday we’ll find our fate
Lay our roots down, yeah we’ll stay
Let’s get lost now, we’ll find a way

We’ll find a way, we’ll find a way, we’ll find a way, we’ll find a way

Seventeen

Written By: Calvin Hughes

I don’t know why I know you,
But I thank God, God that it’s true
Every day, every damn day
And your were born in December
As far back as I can remember
We were one, we were one
And I don’t know if your remember me
Or our walks, walks by the sea
But oh no, oh no, we’re going down
So sit me up in the morning take my pill
Stick around for the after still
But oh no, oh no, we’re going down

Everyone’s not seventeen
Everyone’s not cooler than me
Everyone’s just simple and free but
Not me, not me
Not me, not me

If the wind blew just right
It’d blow me, me to you
But it’s just raining and I’m just blue
And if the fire burned just right
It’d burn the pain straight from my pores
But it’s just smoking, searing, steady
And if I said we never should have ended
Would you give us, us a new beginning
But oh no, oh no, you’ve left the country
And if I said I should’ve shown more feeling
And if I said I’d be more healing
Would you, would you come home

Everyone’s not seventeen
Everyone’s not cooler than me
Everyone’s just simple and free but
Not me, not me
Not me, not me

Walk Walk Walk

Written By: Calvin Hughes

And we step, yeah we step outside
We see the sun, we see the sun shine
And we walk, walk, walk, and we talk, talk, and we know, know, know
It’ll be ok

And I hope, yeah I hope
We never feel, feel that low
And I wish I, I was sure

And all the leaves, yeah all the leaves they’ll leave
And all the snow, yeah all the snow it’ll go
And we’ll know, know, know, and we’ll see, see, see and we’ll be, be, be
So fucking happy

And my mother said it would be fine
And my father said it’d be all right
So from now on I’ve seen the light

I’ve often wondered where the right turned left
I’ve often wondered where the left turned right
And the wrong, wrong, wrong was the road, road, road
And that’s the one that we took
But if you try, try, try, you’ll know, know, know
It’ll all work itself out
And if you climb, climb, climb you’ll find, find, find
Yourself up on a cloud

Pick your feet up, put them on the ground
And you move on to the next town
Where you’ll find your, your own damn sound

And we walk, walk, walk and we talk, talk, talk, and we know, know, know
It’ll be ok

Epic Song

Written By: Calvin Hughes

Over in the barren land
of Afghanistan
My brother he walks
on foot
God damn, I wish
I could

And the machine
gun sound
It’s bringing Black
Hawk down
And the son he’s in the car
Well, Papa he’s in the bar

But I know
you’re coming
Home
Yeah I know
you’re coming
Home

You’re driving around
the lake
Fifteen times
a day
The nightmares in
your head
The soldiers and
the dead

But I know
you’re coming
home
Yeah I know
you’ll be back,
back home

But I never thought
it could be this hard
But there’s one thing
I learned
Well it’s harder
for her

But I know
you’re coming
Yeah I know
you’re coming
home
Oh Please
Bring my brothers
on Home

Can you remember what you did
after fifteen shots
Tell me what memories
that you want shot

Fishies

Written By: Calvin Hughes

Cashed my check at the corner store
Found quarters in a pay phone
I’m just trying to find a ride home
Too drunk to feel low

I lost myself today
At the bottom of a lake
Where the fishies don’t see me
And the sharks won’t eat me
They won’t pull me up now
‘cause they know what I’m about

Got a drink in my left hand
Around the people I can’t fucking stand
And I’m going to need another round
If I’m going to stick around

I lost myself today
At the bottom of a lake
Where the fishies don’t see me
And the sharks won’t eat me
They won’t pull me up now
‘cause they know what I’m about

Walking drunk on the tarmac
I’m 24, I don’t know how to act
Maybe I fucked up
Poured whiskey in my coffee cup

But I found my medicine
And I found my discipline
It was underneath the soil
And I think it fucking spoiled

I found myself today
At the bottom of a lake
Where the fishies don’t see me
And the sharks won’t eat me
They won’t pull me up now
‘cause they know what I’m about
