""openhearted and passionate...(Annie) Rich is worth paying attention to" Ken Capobianco, Cape Cod Times"

Annie Rich is a resident of Plymouth and she was born on the Cape and here’s an instance where a singer/songwriter overflows with talent and potential and simply needs to get heard. She’s got a record out, “Places in the Heart” and it shows off her writing and musical abilities very well.

I’m not sure you’re going to hear a more open hearted and passionate collection of love songs than what Rich offers here. Unlike most writers, she exposes her emotions and when she sings “Take all that I am/ take all that I do/I offer you,” you believe that she’s offering up her soul.

Many of these 12 songs are about intimacy, commitment and deep yearning. Rich sings and plays all the instruments and while the songs are spare—her production with Paul Mascott keeps the focus on her lithe, pleasant yet powerful vocals.

This is folk pop—sometimes she muscles up as on “U Mean Stuff To Me”– and she might be smart to go deeper into this direction because this is certainly one of the most commercially accessible songs here. But Rich seems to be after more than easily digestible Cheez Whiz. These are very romantic songs that deal with making connections and offering part of ourselves selflessly to another person.

Now we live in a very jaded world and Rich’s devotional love approach may not be for everyone. One thing these songs perhaps could use an undercurrent of darkness or drama to offset the glow. An added element of subtle slide guitar or a cheddar-y electric might help in the mix and just add a little tartness. Look for more Edge in her music to come. She's one to watch.

But that may not be the artist Rich wants to be or the songs she wants to write. It’s her party; she’ll smile if she wants to.

One smart affecting song “I May Not Be,” which looks at all the types of person she may have never turned out to be but in the end, “she made her parents proud.” Now when was the last time you heard that? Most people in pop are proud to have ticked off their parents to the nth degree.

The song is refreshingly honest and from an individual voice. That’s one of the reasons that Rich is worth paying attention to. Go to annierich.com for more information.

"I'd never hesitate to book Annie Rich again.""

"When a musical artist has an entire audience singing along, you know she's doing something right. Friday night at the Arts Alive Festival 2009, singer songwriter Annie Rich, backed by a group of her musical friends, did exactly that. The crowd at her stage grew and grew as her set progressed spilling well outside of the tent. It was standing room only as Annie played an entertaining blend of her original songs and folk and rock cover tunes. Her band's excellent musicianship added to her powerful presence driving the festival organizers to ask that 'she play as long as she liked' as the adoring crowd demanded more.
I'd never hesitate to book Annie Rich again."

This CD is an amazing CD by an amazing artist. I can listen to her CD on repeat all day and never get bored of it-- her sound and style is so unique and breathtaking. Annie gives you a calming yet powerful look into her world. Self-produced and all original, this CD would leave no one behind when drawing in the listener. With sincere optimism Annie approaches the fears of the world with delicacy and faith. She paints also a picture of hope through her lyrics. I highly recommend this CD and also, if you get the chance, she is simply astounding in live shows!
