BandCountryPop

New country with a pop feel. Heartfelt lyrics and melodies that don't leave you. Sounds like Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Sting and Lonestar. I mix in the odd cover song but originals are my forte with upbeat toe tappers and when I deliver a ballad my goal is to leave the audience wanting more.

I Love Everything

Written By: Art Dickerson

I LOVE EVERYTHING

You had a bad day at the office
The third time this week
Baby come sit beside me
You must be dead on your feet
I’ll run your bath water
Light some candles for starters
And rub those tired shoulders
I want to hear all about your day
Let that stress just melt away..
cause

I love the way you talk
The way you feel
How you give your heart
It’s so unreal
Girl you’re good for me
It’s plain to see
You’re my best friend
I love the way you kiss
The way you laugh
God knows
You’re my better half
There’s nothing that I’d ever change… cause
I love everything

Remember that sunset on Key West
Our legs hangin’ off the pier
As we snuggled real close together
I whispered you belong right here
Like sunlight on stained glass
You bring me hope back
And make me a better man
I want to stay with you
Lovin’ you is all I want to do…cause

Chorus

The storms will blow in
The waters they’ll rise
We’ll have hard times and struggles
Just trying to survive
But no matter what we face
I know we’re gonna be alright
And when the dark skies clear
I’ll be here by your side

Chorus out

Look At What Losing You Does

Written By: Art Dickerson/Mike Parker

LOOK AT WHAT LOSING YOU DOES

You drove away from home at seventeen
Back when I was hard-headed and you knew everything
You packed down that Chevy Daddy's baby girl
Had to go see the whole wide world
But hard times came and stayed a while
And I'll always have this picture of my little girl's smile

You're still so beautiful
And I'm still so sad
You're still the closest thing
To everything I've had
You look just like you looked the day
You taught me how to love
Now look at me
Look at me
Look at what losing you does

Don't worry about stirring up old memories
To tell you the truth they never wander far from me
The fact you're standing here ain't strange as it seems
I've spent countless hours living out this dream
But here you are and here it comes
The part where I pour out my heart and watch you run

Chorus

You said "Dad I was wrong, I've been gone too long
I love you and I don't wanna fight"
You showed me your daughter, said "you're a grandfather"
It was the proudest moment of my life

You're still so beautiful
Now I'm so glad
You're still the closest thing
To everything I've had
You look just like you looked the day
You taught me how to love
Now look at me
Look at me
Look at what loving me does
Look at what loving me does
Look at what loving me does

Lie

Written By: Art Dickerson

Lie

Take a breath, now smile
Don’t forget to meet their eyes
You can do this
Hug her; shake his hand
Congratulations, a glass of wine
Don’t lose it now you’re doin’ fine
Stay on script, boy
Just stick to the plan

He’s wrong for her, hey so were you
Man, how do people wear these suits
A few kind words
And toast the pair
She wants you here on her big day
Don’t listen to what her friends might say
If it comes up
Tell em’ you don’t care…and

Lie
Like your world ain’t ending
Lie
Like you’re not pretending
Like you’re happy that she’s gone and found somebody new
Lie like love never happened
Lie like this ain’t the hell you’re trapped in
Like every night you don’t lay down and wish you would die
Lie

Concentrate, stop second guessing
Don’t even think about confessing
The way you feel
Remember she’s just a friend
Don’t read what can’t be on her mind
Wait, was that a sideways smile
Just hold back
When she asks how you’ve been…or

Chorus

Say no thanks, you won’t have another glass
Get up, get out fast
Leave the gift card on the table

Chorus Out

I Don't Need Jesus Anymore

Written By: Art Dickerson

I Don't Need Jesus Anymore

I was raised in the faith
Grandma sang Amazing Grace
She taught me all the words to the Old Rugged Cross
But those days are gone out of reach
And the boy my Grandma tried to teach
Was me I guess, but somewhere I got lost

I drove back to my hometown
By the railroad tracks I found
The old church house where we used to pray
There were holes in the walls and doors
And in the broken glass lying on the floor
Was a torn hymnbook signed in Grandma's name

Now I'm clinging to the Old Rugged Cross
But I can't sing it by myself
This old world just does what it pleases
Tells me I don't need Jesus anymore

My heart is broke and bruised
I sure could use some Good News
And if Grandma were here
She'd show me where to look
But I kicked and cried at her grave
When she up and passed away
I cursed the Lord and threw away His book

Chorus

On down the road I walked through the gate
In a graveyard that felt like home
I got down on my knees
There lying in the weeds
Was the cross from Grandma's stone

Now I'm clinging to the Old Rugged Cross
But I can't lift it by myself
This old world just does what it pleases
Tells me I don't need Jesus anymore
But I've got no one else
And I hear Him calling my name
I'm gonna need Jesus forever more
Yeah I'm gonna need Jesus forever more

I'm Gonna Sue Mexico

Written By: Dickerson/Parker

I'm Gonna Sue Mexico

My boss fired me
I hired me a lawyer
Seeking payment for damages done
Some folks down in T. J.
Kidnapped me for three days
The law don't allow that much fun
Hang an out of order
Sign on the border
Keep me north of the Rio Grande
Cause every time I cross
My self control's lost
I always end up gettin out of hand

I'm gonna sue Mexico
For makin that sweet Cuervo Gold
And beautiful women
Keep givin and givin
Time slips away for you know
I'm back home and freezin
Lookin for a reason
Why it ever had to come this far
It's no joke
I'm gonna sue Mexico

For favor just one more Margarita
I swear I never uttered that phrase
I must be loco
More than un poco
To keep going back to that place
Hang an out of order
Sign on the border
Keep me north of the Rio Grande
Cause every time I cross
My self control's lost
I always end up gettin out of hand

Chorus

They wanna get out
Like I wanna get in
It's the best and the worst place
That I've ever been

Chorus

Love Wants To Believe

Written By: Art Dickerson

Love Wants To Believe

Laura’s sweet on that Johnny boy
She’d waited on him for years
The night they kissed by the river
Shining stars were chandeliers
She came home and got a curtain
Wore it like a wedding veil
Closed her eyes and in the distance
Heard the chime of chapel bells cause

Love wants to believe
That dreams last forever
And faith will keep us together
Love wants to believe
Fate can be unforgiving
But life is always worth living
Cause love wants to believe

Johnny lies next to his wife
They just saw the x-rays
Doctor says it doesn’t look good
And he should think about today
He brushes hair from her forehead
And sees his face in her eyes
He says hon’ we’re gonna make it
Waiting for the sunrise cause

Chorus

The moon is a silver mansion
High upon a midnight hill
A widow grieves by a gravestone
To the hymns of whippoorwills
She hears footsteps in the night fog
And blue whispers in the pines
It might be the lonesome south wind
But she thinks it’s divine

Chorus out

Remember Me

Written By: Art Dickerson

REMEMBER ME

Always and always
Two lovers embrace
They’re getting a taste of forever and ever
Just a taste it will be
Cause soon my soul will be free

So remember me
When the lights go down tonight
Cause I will be there
You know I can see everywhere from here
Remember me
When you tuck the boys in goodnight
Cause I miss them still
Tell them I’ll watch them until they’re here
Please remember me

Life begins, too soon it ends
It was my time to go, but I want you to know
That I loved you, yes it’s true
Those words in my head that I never really said

Chorus

Please remember me
When the lights go down
You know I’ll be around
Remember me
Cause I miss you still, I’ll watch you until you’re here
Please remember me

A Woman's Touch

Written By: Art Dickerson

A Woman's Touch

Sun bakin the dust on my back and arms
I rolled back the rocks and raised the barn
Fenced off the fields for this country farm
Laid ev'ry block in this tough old house

But when I smelled her fresh rhubarb pie
Saw her red hair aflame with the morning light
I knew what I'd built finally felt right
Cos wood and brick just ain't a home without

A woman's touch to make it come alive
Her sure and gentle hand to help it shine
Like the warmth of the sun makes a spring rose blush
Ev'ry house feels like a home with a woman's touch

I cracked four ribs ridin' junior motorcross
Broke horses for my Daddy's boss
Had scars on my face from gettin' tossed
Ev'ry mark was a rough boys brand

But the night her fingers floated cross my skin
She rolled through my heart like a gentle wind
With a silky whisper she took me in
And this rowdy boy finally settled down

With a womans touch she made me feel alive
Her sure and gentle hand helped me to shine
Like the warmth of the sun makes a spring rose blush
Ev'ry man learns to love with a woman's touch

God blessed us with a baby boy
Couldn't hold back the tears of joy
I know he'll be everything he can be

With a womans touch she makes him feel alive
Her sure and gentle hand helps him to shine
Like the warmth of the sun makes a spring rose blush
Ev'ry child learns to love with a woman's touch
With a womans touch
