Bio

You could say AudioLight owes its entire identity to being based in Austin. One part Texas trio and 2 parts modern, original rock. They have the intensity and originality Austin is so well known for but also stir in modern rock sounds wrapped in their favorite UK influences .

AudioLight is original rock with a sense of intelligence and complexity. Despite being surrounded by dozens of blues based rock bands AudioLight emerged in 2009 as a much different band sonically than any of their peers. AudioLight thinks and sounds big and on many occasions has been referred to as the “thinking man’s Austin band.” The music drives to a strong pulse and the lyrics reach for some rare air and are not afraid to make you think twice about what you just heard.

Rarely does a rock band strive to connect with a listener at the depth that AudioLight dives. The vocals are sustain themselves with intricate and crafty melodies, the guitar tones range from big chordal washes to crunchy arpeggios, the bass guitar runs a course that includes bass wah and even envelope filtered riffs, and the drums manage to hold it all together while weaving in and around all the soundscapes.

The architects behind the AudioLight sound are co-writers Brink (vocals/guitar) and Michael Tarsha (bass guitar). They met 2 bands ago when another local guitar player sent an intro email to both of them suggesting they get together and jam. That additional guitar player never made it to the jam session and eventually ended up leaving Austin. That introduction led to their first few jams and their jams led to the foundation and basis of the current AudioLight sound. Today, both claim that their greatest nemesis is not lack of topics or ideas but finding the time to stitch it all together. The final ingredient is John “Big Sticks” Bowling who took over drum duties and has helped take the live shows to even more impressive level.

The band spent much of 2010/2011 writing and crafting their debut EP “Blood & Stone” and after some initial tracking at Pedernales studios set up shop at Lava Studios to dial in and capture their sound for such live favorites as “Stumble”, “Ghost Inside of You”, and “Take Back the Sun”.

Last year included their first TV appearance on Fox 7 Good Day Austin and for 2014 they have been busy perfecting their live show and preparing the release of their latest EP “Active-State” which will be released in early 2015.
