Biography

"We want to bring the world something real with a servanthood mentality.
If you approach the world with the apron of a servant, you are allowed to go places that you can't go with the crown of a king. Authors is that apron for us. It's the bridge that gets us to possitions and opportunities to serve and make a differnce in as many lives as possible in a unique and radical way."

Authors is a touring indie/rock/pop band from Dallas, Texas. Recently taking first place in the 2009 National Fine Arts Competition, held in Orlando Florida, with over 15,000 participants. When you hear Authors, you will listen to mathematical phrases, clever riffs, and structure that will impress the likes of anyone, in addition to the tastefully mastered vocal arrangements, and skillful drum forward songs; which in turn produce a sound all can move their body to. Not only does this business minded collection of musicians have emotion provoking lyrics and sound, they possess a marketable image, suitable for the "up-and-coming". Authors has recently recorded 5 beautiful tracks on an E.P. entitled "&" in hopes to capture the creative tunes and intense energy of their live performance.

Lyrics

Riches & Poverty

Written By: Authors

Verse 1:
Old men all around me
that musky smell of being wealthy
hold their heads high
Their Children and their mothers
search the undiscovered
one day they'll watch them die

Chorus:
So tuck in your shirt
button up those cuffs
and suck in that gut
till it hurts
cause without our image we ain't got much
Tie that tie real tight
for tonight
we say goodbye
to our middle class lives

Verse 2:
We're all concerned with somethin aren't we
The fancy cars the cash and pennies
When will we find our lives?

Chorus:
So tuck in your shirt
button up those cuffs
and suck in that gut
till it hurts
cause without our image we ain't got much
Tie that tie real tight
for tonight
we say goodbye
to our middle class lives

Parts & Wires

Written By: Authors

Verse 1:
I can't see myself only this reflection
are my eyes really that blank?
If they truly are
my soul must be as dark
as the bottom of the deepest ocean
might as well be
I hope it's just my reflection

Chorus:
The good Lord knows
I've become some sort of machine
with parts and wires concealed underneath
but I don't wanna be anywhere you're not

Verse 2:
My heart has become so hard and cold
I don't feel much of anything anymore
and if it's truly stone
I pray to God I won't
keep you from breaking it up
to pieces small enough
to pump this frozen blood

Bridge:
Is there anywhere I can run to hide my face from you?
Is there anywhere I can go?
Somewhere you wouldn't know.
