The definition of passion is a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something. Passion is ambition that is materialized into action. It is to invest as much heart, mind, body, and soul into something as is possible.

This definition of passion describes the band “A Victory Marked”.  A rock band who includes Doug Sparks, Kyle Clarke and Jake Vaccaro. Together they put their ALL into their songwriting and live performance. They spend hours in their recording studio in the small town of Blackstock, Ontario rehearsing and creating music through pure fun, friendship and determination.  Check out their self-titled 4-track EP. The EP touches on relatable topics such as bad relationships, following your dreams and emotional experiences in their lives. The EP is on Spotify, iMusic, iTunes or wherever else you stream or buy music. The band has already started to write new songs that have been brewing for a long time and they can’t wait to release more.

The abbreviation for their band name is AVM. An AVM is also known as a medical term standing for Arteriovenous Malformation. It is a serious and life threatening diagnosis that Kyle had been battling since he was 11 yrs old. In 2015 after many surgeries and hard times Kyle had finally conquered this diagnosis when doctors were able to fully cure him. The word AVM once meant something negative, but now has been turned into something positive. It signifies a celebration of life and a reason for anyone battling sickness or tough times to keep positive and never let the pressure of life consume you into its darkness. It also shows the bands purpose and perseverance through tough times, which is pivotal to healing and key to their musical journey.  

How would you describe Doug’s voice?  Powerful, clear, calm, smooth, warm, soulful?  If voice reflects character Doug is all of the above. He is a commanding singer who exudes an earthy confidence. Jake Vaccaro’s guitar playing wrenches out pure emotion. His precise ear and amazing ability as a guitarist makes every song better. His musical talent and ability was developed from the pure love and passion for learning his instrument. Kyle’s up-beat and hard-hitting drum style comes from his background of playing in metal bands.The band is a multitude of musical styles, which includes a fusion of rock, indie rock, and melodic rock. A Victory Marked is a 3-man band with a 5-piece sound.
