Yo!

I'm in the same boat as many of you on the East Coast; it's a cold, snowy day here in CO! Not looking forward to driving around in it…public transit in Ft. Collins totally sucks. Wish me luck!

Reminder: Please send all weekly updates and any type of information to milenapastore@aol.com unless I have requested otherwise…this really helps me out, thanks!

Every week I'm getting a new gig at a new venue, any extra vinyl you can send my way would be genuinely appreciated.

xoxo,

jB

Thanks to everyone who replied to me about last week's discussion on mp3's. I mostly heard from dj's who like me, were trying to figure out when to take the plunge and get Serato or some other mp3 mixing tool. It was pretty unanimous that whether you liked it or not, you were going to start getting more mp3's and less product as time goes on. I also talked about two free mp3 record pools targeted at djs: www.digiwaxx.com and www.bumsquaddjz.com . I was granted access to both and began downloading away last week. I probably came up on about 30 joints between the two of them. I don't do clubs or mixshow but had I been interested, my downloads would probably have been 100+.

The next thing I did, kind of happened by accident. I am way late to the myspace game so this may be remedial for most. But I just noticed that some of you industry cats have a music page instead of a standard page. I shot an email to customer service and they converted my account. You can now check out my page and listen to music. I posted up an old school mega mix that I did with Kut Masta Kurt in 1990. We did this 16 years ago on a reel to reel multi-track. Check it out at www.myspace.com/djjasond . I also put a couple of the show intros on there. Anyway, I bring all this up because I discovered that most of the independent artists I play also have myspace accounts. Many of them allow their featured music to be downloaded. I came up on additional tracks from AG, Special Teamz, and Little Vic, this week just to name a few. I know that some of you newer promoters are struggling with where to host your mp3's. If your artist creates a myspace music page, they can host up to 4 tracks at 6MB each.

Respect,
Jason D
