"The Natural Fact"

We made it down to Natural Fact (www.naturalfact.com), this evening, to catch our first show there. This is a nice place. We arrived after 10PM, so the kitchen was closed, and the room had a nice, dark ambiance to it already. It was still family-friendly, and a great place for Webster University students to hang out.

We only caught Brian Muench -such is life with little ones, sometimes- but he had a great sound. At times, he reminded me of Badly Drawn Boy, so I highly recommend his live show. He also has tasty acoustic tracks at http://www.brianmuench.com.

"St. Louis Nightlife Examiner"

The Old Rock House, located between downtown STL and Soulard, serves as a hot spot for local and national talent. I first stumbled across this hidden gem while chillaxin' at a stellar acoustic performance by Charlie Barrale and Brian Muench. The big-city rock club feel of this venue puts Mississippi Nights and Pops to shame. Dare I say, The Pageant better watch out for this chic, swanky bar turned concert venue after 5 pm. The Pageant will always remain a Delmar Loop and St. Louis staple bringing in artists like The Fray, Sarah Bareilles, and Jason Mraz all before they hit big on the Billboard Charts; however, no local venue has the modern flavor with an old school feel like the Old Rock House. From the modish upper balcony that overlooks the stage to the unique "House of Blues" lighting, the Old Rock House remains a must-visit for those looking for an alternative to the Landing's busy bars and Soulard's neighborhood watering holes. - Ashley Bunning

Bio

In late 2006 Brian Muench began performing his original music in a rapidly growing acoustic scene in St. Louis, Missouri. By January 2009 he had already logged over 6,000 highway miles and more than 300 shows. Muench "caught the bug", to say the least.

Muench has taken his act everywhere from outlying pubs and taverns in New Orleans to tiki huts in Northern Florida. Red-dirt bars in Oklahoma and frozen college campuses in Des Moines and Iowa City. He's performed regularly on a larger stage at Six Flags Over Mid-America and in town festivals in nearby Illinois and Kentucky. Its safe to say if there is an audience to be found, Muench will look for any opportunity to get in front of it.

His music was initially inspired by his parents tastes.. The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, The Temptations. However as he developed into a songwriter he looked to the newer breed of emerging artists. John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson. Today Muench finds his inspiration everywhere from Robert Earl Keen and Todd Snider to Brett Dennen and Eric Hutchinson.

Muench's songs - much like his live performances - are often light hearted and energetic. Locally he is known for his ability to create a report with his audience almost immediately. Quick witted and engaging onstage, Muench attributes this talent to the wide variety of audiences and situations he has put himself in front of over the past several years.

Whether street performing in Texas, a back alley pub in Tennessee, or at a festival downtown St. Louis, Muench's performances are sure to be worth a listen.
