"Local roots music band debuts CD with a Sunday afternoon groove"

“10 Miles to Biloxi” by the Springs-based Brock Gleeson Band has a Sunday afternoon kind of groove — it’s an easygoing collection of songs that will recharge your batteries.

What’s to like: Along with some great instrumental flourishes, this debut effort holds promise for Gleeson’s songwriting ability. The wordplay of “Feet First” is compelling, along with the storytelling on “10 Miles.”

My favorite tune is the rootsy waltz of “16 Months,” as the accordion and mandolin dance with each other, and Gleeson gets a touch twangy on the vocals. - The (Colorado Springs) Gazette

Bio

"Run Like Hell," Brock Gleeson's second full-length album in little more than year, showcases his lively country pop and engaging storytelling.

It's been a productive year for the band. "10 Miles to Biloxi" was released in the summer of 2009, followed by the EP, "The Water," in early 2010. Now, Brock and the band have released "Run Like Hell," the culmination of months in the studio and inspired by a trip through the South last spring.

In between studio sessions, the band has been lighting up clubs and festivals across the Rocky Mountains. Now, Brock's sights are set on the West. He's ready to share his songs with audiences large and small.

First, though, he has a movie project he's finishing up in Arizona. If time permits, he'll play locally through December. A "Run Like Hell" release party is in the works: Set aside Dec. 11 for a rocking night in Denver!

Born in Grand Junction, Colorado, into a rowdy Irish clan where everyone was a storyteller, Brock grew up sharing tales -- only some of which were true -- and performing them before rapt audiences from the family dinner table to the school stage.

He hit the road shortly after high school, drawing fans from Colorado to Nashville, Austin to Phoenix. He counts among his musical highlights of those early years opening for guitar and roots music wizard Jimmy Vaughan.

The Brock Gleeson Band creates songs you'll tap your toes to and find yourself humming a few hours later. They'll make you shake your hips across a dance floor or sing aloud on a long country drive.
