"Servin UP ! w/c September 22,2014 (or, what we’re digging on 2SER this week)"

Lucinda Williams may well be some kind of inspiration for Sydney's Caitlin Harnett, working similarly from a country music base as she does. But it's the musical cross-pollinations of earlier female forces such as Joni Mitchell and Laura Nyro that strike as touchstones on Harnett's debut of both easy-rolling and intricate songs, full of beautifully broad 70s-style pop arrangements and stark country feeling. Whatever the backing, these songs soar wonderfully on Harnett's honeyed voice -

"ABC Radio"

Very rarely in this business do you come in contact with a career artist. But when I first saw Caitlin Harnett, I knew that she was destined to be making great albums for the next few decades. She doesn’t seem to worry about modern trends; it’s all about classic songwriting – and a voice filled with heartache, sorrow and joy.

Bio

Caitlin Harnett hails from Sydney, Australia but her songs evoke Laurel Canyon of the early 1970’s. Caitlin was one of the youngest signings to Mushroom Music Publishing, Australia’s largest independent music publisher. She has been recognised both internationally and locally for her songwriting.

Caitlin released her debut full length in October 2014. It was recorded live to tape in Ottawa, Canada with Dave Draves (Kathleen Edwards, Howe Gelb), Jim Bryson and other local musicians including members of Timbre Timbre.

Following the release she showcased at international festivals NXNE, Americana Music Festival in Nashville, Northside Festival in Brooklyn, CMJ Music Marathon in NYC and Canadian Music Week. She then went on to do two tours in the states with Charleston based bands SUSTO and The High Divers.

In 2016 Caitlin and the Pony Boys formed and have since played a number of shows supporting the likes of Tony Joe White, Hurray For The Riff Raff, The Nude Party and will shortly be opening for The Felice Brothers on their Australian tour.

Caitlin and the Pony Boys will be releasing their new single ‘Make You Feel Blue’ on the 8th October followed by their video clip directed by Aimee-Lee X. Curran and filmed by Jack Saltmiras on the 7th November. Their new record is set for release early next year. Recorded live at ‘Klaus House’, the living room of Joseph Ireland (The Middle East, Joseph Liddy and the Skeleton Horse) the band wanted to make something that was as true to a live show as possible. "A folk singer's voice, a country singers heartache's and a songwriter's talent." Bernard Zuel, Sydney Morning Herald
