"The Groove - monthly publication for Qld Blues Assoc"

"Queensland blues renaissance? We've been waiting for it. I hear it steaming round the track, thank you Lord. Thank you, Cath and thank you Harvey for sounding the whistle. All original, a breath of fresh air, "Dangerous Desires" pushes your buttons if you ponder on life and love. Cath, you just need to be heard. Thanks for the beautiful lyrics and vocals; you're doing it for us. This is right out of Queensland, 2009, where if people haven't been up to their necks in a storm they just haven't lived. These are much practiced musicians, a great band, bringing lots of depth to this very competent recording. I love it.

"Rhythms Magazine Review Feb 2010"

Cath Butler’s earlier release Toolbox Blues, recorded with her Steppin’ Out line-up, revealed her blues influences as she presented an array of non-originals.

This follow up contains all new material co-written with guitarist Chris Harvey. From the opening minor-key slow blues title cut to the 16 bar chorus of the closing ‘Another Stormy Night in Queensland’ the CD’s six songs all have a definite Willie Dixon vibe.

Butler a dedicated stalwart of the Brisbane blues community wraps her exquisite pipes around swing tunes, shuffles and funky workouts with controlled passion as she relates narratives on emotional apprehensiveness, relationships, human frailties and battling the odds.

"Dangerous Desires CD Review"

Dangerous Desires by Cath Butler's Joynt Venture is a wonderful original tapestry that flows thru the blues with tasty nods to country and jazz. This is music that speaks from one soul to another. Cath Butler started her musical journey a little more mature than most. That is most likely the reason her lyrics reflect a wisdom only living it can bring. The melodies are haunting and travel well in your memory. I warmly recommend this CD." -John 'blueshammer' Hammer, Publisher of Blue Monday Monthly and Producer/Host of 'Hammered By The Blues' weekly radio show - John Hammer - Blue Monday Monthly

"Midnight Special Blues Radio - France"

The best blues album I've heard in about a year! All original, creative, perfectly performed and produced. A great work of an Artist actively engaged in life, within and without!" - Paul Bondarovski

Cath Butler - Bio

Sometimes you have to play the cards that life deals for you and so it was not until much later in life that Cath Butler found she was able to indulge her passion for music, more specifically blues music.

Cath is the winner of the 2010 Best New Artist and Female Vocalist of the Year Award Australian Blues Music (Chain) Awards, Australia's most prestigious blues awards.

Over the last several years Cath has been fronting blues bands in and around Brisbane appearing at local blues venues, events and festivals and performing with some of the most respected blues musicians in the State. Cath describes herself as mature performer with a fair share of life experiences. She has a discerning taste for songs with a tongue-in-cheek flavour that suit her particular style of delivery drawing from modern blues women like Janiva Magness, Lou-Ann Barton and Marcia Ball.

Recording her first CD of favourite blues covers ‘Toolbox Blues’ with her previous band Steppin’ Out in 2007; she received significant airplay on blues friendly radio stations around the country. (www.myspace.com/steppinoutband ). But all along she held a desire to write and perform her own songs.

Influenced by both the British blues bands of the 1960’s and her love of Texas style blues, Cath collaborated with notable guitarist Chris Harvey (Harvey) to write her first original blues compositions. This collaboration resulted in the award winning original CD ‘Dangerous Desires’ and has been getting a significant amount of airplay both in Australia and overseas on blues radio programs.

Cath sincerely hopes that this CD will establish her as a legitimate songwriter.
