Cecil Purihin

Cecil is a young hard working experimental producer out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Equipped with a single turntable and a Roland SP sampling machine, Cecil samples records from thrift stores and dollar bins, as well as recording ambient noises and sounds on his phone, and recycles them into something completely new and spaced out. These same tools he also uses for live performances, blending the music from his favorite records with his own production, creating an authentic listening experience. 

Combining a hard work ethic, with an original sound, and a positive attitude, Cecil believes he will have a successful music career. With goals of releasing music, playing festivals, producing for rappers and singers, and doing soundtracks for movies and films, Cecil has a stacked plate of what he wants to accomplish and he is ready to get started. 

Notable performances have included playing events such as The Rabbit Hole, Sunday Riots, the Life Cube installment in 2015, opening up for Sapient in 2015, Soul Sessions,  and The Last Call at the Beat Coffeehouse and Records. Aside from those performances Cecil has played many local venues such as the following: Bunkhouse, Beauty Bar, The Beat Coffeehouse and Records, Raw Remedies, Adrenaline Sports Bar,  Huntridge Tavern, Hop Nuts, The Skullery, The Junxion Complex, OMD, and the legendary early shows at the Hard Hat in Naked City.

In the meantime Cecil plays at local bars and events downtown, while also being the DJ for many yoga events. Besides solo work, Cecil also plays alongside longtime collaborator and local rapper Gabraham Thinkin as 'Cecil & Gabe', where the 2 producers play back to back with their own productions while Gabraham weaves his raps throughout the performance creating a truly original hip hop sound. Cecil is also part of a collaboration trio called 'Serenity' where they combine yoga, music, and visuals to create something more than a typical yoga class,

Inspirations include but are not limited to: Animal Collective, George Shearing, MF Doom, Sergio Mendes, Radiohead, Gaslamp Killer, Ahmad Jamal Trio, Bonobo, RJD2, Nujabes, Harry Belafonte, DJ Shadow, Madlib, Grizzly Bear, Billy May, Aphex Twin, Ras G, Buddy Rich, Flying Lotus, and Frederic Chopin.
