Biography

With his new album release, ‘The Ride Home’, singer, pianist and songwriter, Chris Diaz is receiving lots of industry buzz lately, comparing his music to the songwriting artistry of The Beatles and Elton John, with the musical lyricism of Jason Mraz and James Blunt and the performance delivery of Coldplay, Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, where he cultivated his songwriting, performing and production talents (and even had a brush with stardom and steady airplay on local radio), singer/songwriter Chris Diaz has taken on an honest approach to songwriting this time around, allowing him to delve deep into his heart and soul to create some of the most captivating music since the days when the Beatles, James Taylor and Elton John were king.
‘Am I Beautiful?’, 'Nicole' and ‘My Special Lady’, destined for Top 40 radio, are testaments to the ability Chris has to fill an innocent love song with extraordinary passion, while 'Smile For The Camera', ‘Would It Matter’ and ‘Hear On The Outside’ are songs that reflect Chris' own battle for survival upon moving to the big city and shows how confident he is in baring his soul to tell a story to his listeners and fans or show his ability to see the world differently and offer an intelligent spin on issues around us.
If the reactions from fans and industry folks alike prove anything, then there is little doubt that Chris Diaz has the talent and drive to accomplish great things as an independent musician, songwriter and producer in today's competitive industry.

Am I Beautiful?

Written By: Chris Diaz

"Am I Beautiful?" words and music by Chris Diaz

I would give anything,
To have somebody look at me,
The way I look at everyone else,
And I would give anything,
To have somebody hold my hand,
And feel the simple touch that they felt,

Am I beautiful,
Yes you are,
Am I beautiful,
You dont have to look so hard,
I dont feel beautiful,
But you are,
How can I be beautiful,
Baby...because you are,

I dont look anything,
Like all those pretty girls you see,
On the TV and movie screen,
And I dont look anything,
Like all those supermodel types,
On the cover of magazines,

Am I beautiful,
Yes you are,
Am I beautiful,
You dont have to look so hard,
I dont feel beautiful,
But you are,

How can I be beautiful,
Baby...because you are,
Oh yes you are, Oh yes you are,
From the island to the bay,
With everything you do and say yeah youre beautiful,

I dont need anything,
Except the love youve got to give,
Youve always been more than enough,
And I dont need anything,
Except this simple life we live,
Theres no need to make things tough,

Youre so beautiful,
Yes you are,
Youre so beautiful,
I dont have to look so hard,
And you can feel beautiful,
Because you are,
How can you be beautiful,

Baby...because you are

Smile For The Camera

Written By: Chris Diaz

She tries to catch a cab at 42nd street,
Nobody told her that she'd have to use her feet,
She's just a cheerleader from somewhere USA,
She never had to learn she always got her way,

But now, she's just another girl,
Upside down, in an unfamiliar world,
All she wants, is to be more than she is,
All that she wants is to live,

Smile for the camera,

Don't you let them see you cry,

Smile for the camera,

Wipe that tear from your eye,

So many broken dreams of life in Hollywood,
A rude awakening welcome to womanhood,
A million heads to turn two million eyes to see,
Ten million lonely souls to keep her company,

Oh no, she started to believe,
That her dreams, were truly meant to be,
Lift your head, another table's clear,
You sold your life to be here,

Smile for the camera,

Don't you let them see you cry,

Smile for the camera,

Wipe that tear from your eye,

("ooohhh" outro)
