Conversation With Life

Written By: Dana Rice

I always heard people say,
“Life is Hard”.
“Life can do some terrible thangs to you.
“Life will kick you when you’re already down and make you wanna stay on the ground”.

Yeah, I heard it all, but like my mama always said of me – I always gotta get the last word!
So I had a little talk with Life.
I said, Life, you may think you know me and that you can conquer me, but have you met my man JC?
And Life walked up to me like the big bad wolf huffin and puffin, “Whatcha man gotta do with me?”
I’m glad you asked, I said to Life as I whipped out my little black book – that’s all it looked like to him, but between you and me, that book is my very own WMD – Weapon of Mass Deliverance
It says right here in II Peter 1:3 My man’s got everything to do with you and he’s given me all things that have anything to do with you, Life.
He’s come to help me keep you from acting like something you ain’t – like
Boring, Stressful, Impossible, Scary
And because he’s here, instead of you running me, I’m living you Abundantly
That’s Right All the way live, no pun intended.
He makes all your huffin and puffin seem quite irrelevant. You may blow down my house and he’ll give me a mansion
Take away my job and he’ll give me a career.
Raise the price of gas and I’ll still be here.
Try to confuse me, abuse me, misuse me, and you will find peace rules cause he’s on my mind.
It’s gonna be this way forever so don’t you think you’ll ever be taking over.
You see because of him I’m like a tree that’s planted by the water and I shall not be moved.
Whatever I do shall prosper
And that’s what my man gotta do with you, Life.

You're On Your Way

Written By: Dana Rice

Verse 1
Situation’s kinda hectic I just heard me say
On the phone to my friend tryin to figure out
Can I bail out of this?
Went on to tell her how the pressure’s really getting me down
My money’s funny looked around and found myself in the hole
I need relief

Prechorus
Don’t really know what else to do
That’s why I’m coming to you, my friend
Well if this is all there is guess I’ll fold
But she said hey

Chorus
You’re on your way
To a brighter day
You’re on your way
To a brighter day
Don’t give up now
You’re almost there
You’re on your way
To a brighter day

Verse 2
Kept on talking little longer
She was setting me straight
It’s not my time, God ain’t forgot
She said I just need to wait
A change gon’ come for me
But I was busy trying to tell her how the fight in me’s gone
What’s the use of always trying when I don’t ever win?

Prechorus
Don’t really know what else to do
That’s why I’m coming to you, my friend
Well if this is all there is guess I’ll fold
You’re On Your Way p2. ©2008 Dana Rice

But she said hey

To a brighter day
You’re on your way
To a brighter day
Don’t give up now
You’re almost there
You’re on your way
To a brighter day

Bridge
Don’t you dare go giving up so fast
Don’t you dare go giving up so fast
You are on your way somewhere
Oh yeah
Don’t you dare go giving up so fast

Chorus
You’re on your way
To a brighter day
You’re on your way
To a brighter day
Don’t give up now
You’re almost there
