"Things Change"

As time moves forward, things change. This very simple fact of life led to the end of Daniel Whittington's band Rhodes, while he moved on to pursue work on solo projects. The result is this wonderful album, consequently title Things Change. - Storts Family

"Rhodes New Album"

Like Jet, The Strokes and the White Stripes, rhodes is trying to do what at times seems unlikely: Keep rock 'n roll alive. The song's powerful first track, "Magician," sets the tone in this nod to classic rock, featuring the sensible guitar solos of Darren Clarke and the strong vocals of Daniel Whittington. Whittington's voice seems familiar (on one song he's part Paul Carrack and part Eddie Money), but at the same time he manages to sound original. The band relied on few tricks and little editing, allowing this CD a raw stripped-down sound that lets the music speak for itself. Several ballads provide a nice balance. - San Luis Obispo Tribune

Bio

Daniel Whittington has a sound that covers a lot of territory. He spent years playing drums with various blues and Texas rock bands in the area surrounding Austin, TX. Daniel spent the better part of 6 years on the road touring across the entire US, Canada, and parts of England with his band, that was signed to UK based record label.

After leaving the band he dug back into the songs that he'd been writing during that time on the road, and the harder sound he cultivated when writing and recording with the roots rock band, Rhodes. The last Rhodes album, Half a Mind To Stay, was released in 2007 to critical acclaim, and even garnered them an opening slot with Aerosmith in the summer of 2007.

In 2009 he moved back to Texas to begin pursuing the sounds of his musical roots. Digging into the bands and music he had grown up around he began writing more Americana and Texas roots style songs. That work resulted in the album "Things Change" and the "Taking You Home" EP. He released both in May of 2009 and spent the next two years touring to support them.

Currently, Daniel is working on an album that he is recording one EP at a time. Released every two months, the 3 song Private War EP's are being made available as digital "pay what you think it's worth" downloads on his website. The songs are a direct link to the Texas roots music he has always loved and the recordings have included several other great musicians like Matt Rollings (Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris, and more), Emily Gimble (of The Gimble's, Warren Hood, Marshall Ford Swing Band, and more) and musicians from all over the US. At the end of the year he will assemble the EP's into one physical album to be printed and released physically.
