Mixed Singles

Written By: Dan Raymond

Mixed singles, mixed signals
Mixing drinks as they mix and they mingle
Mixed feelings, mixed emotions
All mixed up about the meaning of devotion

Look 'em up, look 'em down
They're looking real good, there are good looking all around
Taking chances, chancy choosin'
Pick only winners or pick a place to loose 'em

Mixed singles, mixed signals
Mixing drinks as they mix and they mingle
Mixed feelings, full of mixed emotions
All mixed up about the meaning of devotion

A sexy single, double talk
A cool, cool kitten on a hot cat walk
Body language, stop and gawk
Forget to reason when the bodies talk
Yea, the mind goes dumb when the bodies talk

The right connection, the right complexion
Or else your walking in the wrong direction
She's got it coming, but he ain't going
The heart stops hiding when the mind starts showing

Mixed singles, mixed signals
Mixing drinks as they mix and they mingle
Mixed feelings, mixed emotions
All mixed up about the meaning of devotion

Ring finger don't ring true
When you ring-around-rosie for a week or two
Head over heels or in overhead
Head on the pillow, heels under the bed

Mixed singles, mixed signals
Mixing drinks as they mix and mingle
Mixed feelings, mixed emotions
All mixed up about the meaning of devotion

How's Your New Fool?

Written By: Dan Raymond

So, how’s your new fool treating you?
Does he jump when you call like I used to?
How many changes will you put him through?

When the lies from your lips fall like leaves from a tree
Will he close his eyes tightly and pretend not to see?
I hope for his sake he’s stronger than me

‘Cause he’s really not to blame,
He’s just a fool in your little game,
We’re really just the same,
A pair of fools in your stupid game.

So, how’s your new fool treating you?
Does he laugh and do tricks when you tell him to?
I ought to know, hah, I’ve been there, too!

So, tell me,
Is he waiting by the front door with his heart in his hand
While you’re sneaking out the back door with another man?
I wouldn’t put it past you... I wouldn’t put anything past you!

‘Cause he’s really not to blame
He’s just a fool in your little game
We’re really just the same
A pair of fools in your stupid game!

So, how’s your new fool working out?
When he learns your true colors
Will he scream and shout?
How will he act when you kick him out?

On the Rebound

Written By: Dan Raymond

If you catch me on the rebound I could make you feel spellbound
And leave you very let down, standing, looking dumbfounded
I can’t trust how I feel

In a state of mad confusion I might find that I’ve been usin’
A heart that ain’t abusin’, I should’a been refusin’
I can’t trust how I feel

‘Cause when your body and mind
Give out conflicting signals, you start to feel the tingles
And then you can’t decide
If you found your one-and-only
Or your heart’s just lonely

I’m not saying not to hold me I’m just saying take it slowly
Before you try to mold me, take the time to know me
I can’t trust how I feel

When you’re on the rebound, you find yourself in a sticky situation
When you’re on the rebound, you’re not quite ready for
The new complications, the new implications, the new aggravations

Cause when your body and mind
Give out conflicting signals, you start to feel the tingles
And then you can’t decide
If you found your one-and-only
Or your heart’s just lonely

If I catch you on the rebound you could make me feel spellbound
And leave me very let down, standing, looking dumbfounded
I can’t trust how you feel

You’d better learn to love yourself before you love somebody else
Or you’ll risk your mental health along with somebody elses
I can’t trust how I feel
You can’t trust how you feel
We can’t trust how we feel

‘Cause when you suddenly find
You’re all alone and frightened, you’re senses start to highten
And then you just might find
That you settled for a zero ‘cause you ain’t no hero

The Fountain

Written By: Dan Raymond

Even in a crowd you're by yourself, all alone
And you're so afraid of everyone you meet
In the depths of conversation you feel trapped in isolation
The things you need are always out of reach
So you read your paper novels and you wander for a while
Through some places where you've never really been
They wouldn't let you in

(Chorus)
Drop a coin into the fountain and softly make a wish
If you're lucky all your dreams will soon come true
And your lady will be standing by your side
Together you can leave your fears behind

Fair and partly cloudy with a chance of sudden showers
And it seems to rain more and more each day
But you're much too dignified
To show your tears would hurt your pride
Your emotions you must always hide away
You just run away

Chorus

But still some things keep getting out of hand
And I don't suppose you'll ever understand
That the truth ain't what we always want to hear
You don't have to fear

Chorus

Love Is...

Written By: Dan Raymond/John Nichols

The wind makes me feel like my life’s been touched
By the warmth of a brand new day
The sky makes me feel like I’ve had too much
When I carry on this way

A feather in my cap and a slap on my back
Can make me feel divine
I’m on my way home, I can make it on my own
But I may not find the time

Love Is… Love Is…

Nothing’s gonna change for the sake of changing
What must be will be
But don’t look now ‘cause I think there’s another one
Coming straight at me (change that is)

Sitting on the grass toking it easy
Passing the time away
Wracking my mind, trying to find a rhyme
Wanta put it in a song to say

Love Is… Love Is…

Future’s door is always open
What’s on the other side
Time goes on and waits for no one
And takes us for a ride

Love makes peace and harmony
That’s what we want to see
Warmth and joy and happiness
Throughout eternity

Tired Old Man

Written By: Dan Raymond

Well, he'd sit all alone in the chair in their home
And rarely would venture outside
He knew in his mind he was well past his prime
And nearing the end of his ride

But his children, they kept on playing
Yea, his children, they kept on playing

The T.V. would be blaring and he’d keep right on staring
But his thoughts would be so far away
Sometimes he’d smile as he’d think back for a while
On a long, long ago happy day

But his children, they kept on playing
Yea, his children, they kept on playing

His small old age pension would help ease the tension
But his wife had to work just the same
And he learned through the years from his anguish and fears
The rules can be harsh in life’s game

But his children, they kept on playing
Yea, his children, they kept on playing

With tears in my eyes I stood right by his side
I can still hear his fading voice say,
“Scatter my ashes in the ocean, I don’t want to rot in no grave
I’m so scared of dying but I won’t go out crying
Hold my hand and help me be brave,
Just hold my hand and help me be brave”

But his children, they kept on playing
Yea, his children, they kept on playing
Oh, his children, well, we kept on playing

I Wanna Be

Written By: Dan Raymond

I wanna be the thorn in your side
I wanna be the bumps in your ride
I wanna be the fears that you go through
I wanna be everything that ever bothered you
Uh oh, uh oh, there I go again
Uh oh, uh oh, will this ever end?
Uh, oh, uh oh, there is go again
Saying that I hate you girl so I can stop the pain
I wanna be the tears in your eyes
I wanna be the fat in your thighs
I wanna be the pain in your neck
I wanna be on your nerves
'til you're a nervous wreck
I wanna be stuck in your craw
I wanna be the trip that finally makes you fall
I wanna be the chill in your bones
I wanna be your house, your house that's not a home

Taffy the Barmaid

Written By: Dan Raymond/Bill Clausen

She's got the prettiest eyes on a woman that you'll ever see
And she's got the sweetest lips, I don't believe you know what I mean
Oh, but Taffy, if you'll pardon me,
There is there is something that I'd like to know
Darling when you bend over I see honey and clover
And I wonder if you're aware of the show
Oh, the barmaid, can she be made?
Oh, the barmaid, can she be made?
Well she, wears the nicest clothes
Yea, you'll always see her dressed up chic
But her top spills over like a big draft beer
That you wanna clean up real quick
And when she ax you, "How ya doin', Hon?"
You order five more of the same
And you give her a tip, 'cause you hope it'll slip
And she'll have to bend over again
Oh, the barmaid, can she be made?
Oh, the barmaid, can she be made?
Now, Taffy, you've got the cutest nose
And a smile that's just divine
And you've got that perfect shape
That can drive a man out of his mind
Ah, but Taffy, there is one more thing
That I think you should know
When you're washing those glasses you give me hot flashes
Better get me a six pack to go

The Loose Masseuse

Written By: Dan Raymond/Bill Clausen

She advertises in the paper each week
A modern, revolutionary technique
She guaranties she’s got a style that’s unique
A contemporary, therapeutic form of relief
She’s the woman at the health spa on the corner
She can turn your head around
She can rub you up and down
She’s the number one masseuse in town
She advertises on the local TV
She ain’t a lady but a women indeed
She tantalizes when she’s down on her knees
She’s a sassy little lassie and she aims to please
So if you’re lonely and you’re feeling depressed
Forget the remedy of fluids and rest
200 dollars, you’re a member for life
You can live at the spa
And leave the rest to your wife

Sometimes

Written By: Dan Raymond

Sometimes you're there at the door
You look so pleased to see me
Sometimes I walk in late
You look relieved to see me
Sometimes I see you looking around
I swear you're looking for me
Sometimes our eyes will meet
And hope swells up inside me

It's only my imagination fooling me
It's always just another hopeless fantasy

Sometimes you sit so close
Our arms touching slightly
Sometimes you stand so near
Swaying, bumping lightly
And every gentle touch sends such a thrill through me
Like a sudden jolt of electricity

chorus

Sometimes you walk in the room
I hope you're looking for me
Sometimes you walk in the room
You seem to look right through me
And all the things I'm dying to do and say
Stay locked up in my aching heart
For another day

And every time I try to tell you where I'm at
You look at me and come right back
"Don't think like that,
"Don't talk like that,
"Don't act like that!"

Sometimes I look in the mirror
And see what you must be seeing
And each time, I stop and think
"Oh, Lord, I must be dreaming"
Your pillow hear, your pillow face
I'd really love to see
Waking up upon the pillow
Next to me, next to me

Chorus

The Coming of the Ship

Written By: Dan Raymond

(inspired by the book "The Profit")

Twelve long years I've waited
Twelve long years I've prayed
Fro my ship to come and carry me away
For my ship to come and carry me away

But all these things I've learned to love
Within these city walls
The memories of those I taught
I'll miss them, one and all
And so there's a sadness in my heart
That makes it hard to leave
But I feel it deep within my soul
I've long fulfilled my need
And now I must go

Over the ocean follow the sun
Sail with the men of whom I am one
Back to the land
From where I had come
Twelve long years ago,
Twelve long years ago

Twelve long years....

Gun Shy

Written By: Dan Raymond

I get the feeling that you'd like to get to know me
And I've been dying just to know you, too
But every time I want to click off my safety
I get gun shy

You are the caliber of girl I gauge exciting
And your artillery is certainly inviting
But every time you put your finger on my trigger
I get gun shy

I get gun shy, have you got me in your sights?
Gun shy, have you got me dead to rights?
Gun shy, is there nothing I can do?
Scared to death that maybe I will fall in love with you

I saw you yesterday you shot right up to greet me
And I was hoping for a shot at you, too
But every time I find you've got me in your cross hairs
I get gun shy

I'm pretty sure you've take aim at me before
And I confess I've drawn a bead on you, too
But every time I see you staring down your bore
I get gun shy

Corus

If I asked you point blank
Would you tell me the truth?
I guess that's a loaded question
But I'm not bullet proof

I start to thinking that you just might be the one
I start to thinking and that's my problem
I start to thinking, I start to thinking
I start to thinking, yea, I start to thinking,
I start to thinking, I start to thinking
and get gun shy

Chorus & repeat

I Do Mean Squat to You!

Written By: Dan Raymond

(a novelty song in progress)

I DO MEAN SQUAT TO YOU!

I told you that I sometimes think I don’t mean squat to you
You answered, “Never say that, because it isn’t true.”
Gee, I’m feeling better, now
No longer quite so blue
I’m glad to know without a doubt, I do mean squat to you!

I ‘m like a big old faithful dumb dog lying at your feet
Praying for attention, hoping for a treat
Always there to please you, waggy tail and beg
I promise not to lick your face, I’d never hump your leg
And if you pat me on the head as sometimes you will do
I might pee from excitement, I do mean squat to you!

You said you liked my music so I wrote a song for you
And told you all of my feelings and what I’d love to do
I poured my aching heart out, a gift for only you
I guess I’m really quite naïve, I thought you’d find it cool
It didn’t make you want me, but, at least you were amused
And that’s enough I know it says, I do mean squat to you!

Chorus

I thought that we were special, friends both tried and true
I’d listen to your problems, what you’re going through
I showered you with presents on your birthday, Christmas, too
And every small occasion, to chase away your blues
And you returned the favor, though late a week or two
An email for my birthday, I do mean squat to you!

Chorus

On Tralfamadore (Oh, Montana)

Written By: Dan Raymond

On Tralfamadore (Oh, Montana)

(Inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse-Five”)

On Tralfamadore, we’re unstuck in time
No how, no why, the moment
Simply is, oh, Montana

The air is poison and cold winds blow
We’re safe in our dome and warm in the glow
Of each other, oh, Montana

Montana Wildhack may not be perfect
But to Billy Pilgrim
You’re perfectly perfect

We’re light years from home
And the aliens hope
That we’ll give them a show
And they ask,
“Are you mating now?”

We hear their applause
But we’re lost in our bliss
And I whisper, this
Oh, I love you, Montana

On Tralfamadore the future and past
Are forever cast
In the eternal now, oh, Montana

And all that was and all that is
And all that will be
Have always been, oh, Montana

Mother Montana keep me stuck right here
This time this place
Don’t let me leave, oh no, oh no, here it comes

And I jump back to earth
That’s always the hitch
This one really hurt
Time tripping’s a bitch
Are you missing me?
I’m light years away
Nothing to do but wait
For my jump back to you

On Tralfamadore, we’re unstuck in time
No how, no why, the moment
Simply is, oh, Montana

And all that was and all that is
And all that will be
Have always been, oh, Montana

Montana Wildhack, you may not be perfect
But to Billy Pilgrim
You’re perfectly perfect

She's Never Gonna Love You

Written By: Dan Raymond

She’s never gonna love you, no, no ,no
Never gonna love you, no, no ,no
Never gonna love you, no, no ,no, nooo

I know you want her love, she drives you to distraction
You better give it up, it’s never gonna happen
She doesn’t love you, you better get that through your head
She doesn’t love you, what more can be said?
Oh oh

She’s never gonna love you, no, no ,no
Never gonna love you, no, no ,no
Never gonna love you, no, no ,no, nooo

She says that you’re her friend, you’ve been a great friend to her
But don’t expect her love, a friend’s all you can hope for
She doesn’t love you, so you better not expect that
She doesn’t love you, it’s best that you accept that
She’s never gonna love you, no, no ,no, no, aaaahhhh

Solo

She’s never gonna love you, no, no ,no
Never gonna love you, no, no ,no
Never gonna love you, no, no ,noooo

John and Paul were wrong, they never knew this lady
I wish they weren’t wrong, I see she drives you crazy
Crazy, crazy

She’s never gonna love you, no, no ,no
Never gonna love you, no, no ,no
Never gonna love you, no, no, no, nooooooo

Everything About You

Written By: Dan Raymond

I love the way the room lights up as soon as you walk in
And everyone around you is proud to call you friend
I love your timeless beauty that shines so brilliantly
I love everything about you but the way you feel about me

I love the tasteful way you dress, the way you style your hair
Your face is so amazing, I have to stop and stare
I love your gorgeous smile and your laugh that's so carefree
I love everything about you but the way you feel about me

I love the sparkle in your eyes when you glance my way
Every time I see you it truly makes my day
I love the pleasant fragrance when you're standing close to me
I love everything about you but the way you feel about me

It seems no matter what I do, no matter what I say
You smile and tell me you're flattered and quickly walk away
But flattery gets me nowhere, you've proven that to me
I love everything about you, you care so little about me

I love the way you say good night with hugs for all your friends
You make them feel so special, they'll be coming back again
I love your gentle kindness that comes so naturally
I love everything about you
I love everything about you
Yes, I love everything about you... but the way you feel about me

Only Dreams

Written By: Dan Raymond

Every night I crawl in bed and spoon my feather pillow
I squeeze real tight pretending that it’s you
And as I’m overcome by sleep the last thing I’ll remember
Is hoping that my dreams will be of you

And even if they're only dreams
And dreams are mere illusion
They're all I have connecting me to you

But every night you go to sleep on someone else’s pillow
And any dreams you have won’t be of me
Just like in real life, I will be excluded
I have no place in your reality

Every night I crawl in bed and spoon my feather pillow
I squeeze real tight pretending that it’s you
And as I’m overcome by sleep the last thing I’ll remember
Is hoping that my dreams will be of you

When morning comes and I'm awake still spooning on my pillow
I'm happy if I dreamed about you
I'm happy if I dreamed about you
Yeah, I'm happy if I dreamed about you
