Dave Christianson Band

Dave Christianson is a versatile and brilliant guy. He writes great songs, often about the ironic and humorous moments within real life. He possesses a truly beautiful voice. The guy can really sing.
Dave worked as a jingle writer in the 1980s, he wrote and produced some award-winning music for radio and TV advertising campaigns. He knows what hes doing in the recording studio, and produces some great recordings. Dave has produced eight albums of his own music to date. The most recent, called 'Splode Package, he self-released in the summer of 2013 on Macrobop Recordings, Daves independent label. The album features Daves voice, his powerful drumming and piano playing, along with some great playing from guitar virtuoso Danny Bresett, as well as bassist Pete Richards and keyboardist Scott Doyle, all regular bandmates of Daves in his live group. There are 18 songs and 110 minutes of music over two discs. The settings of the tunes are quite varied, the imagination of the listener is engaged by the lyrics and the sounds.
Daves music has always been broadly influenced, by 1960s & 70s soul singers, soundscapes of the urban blues, the interplay of modern jazz, the evocative storytelling of the country music and folk traditions, all tightly wound together like a ball of twine.
Hes a singing drummer, like Levon Helm, Grady Tate, Phil Collins, Buddy Miles. Kind of a rarity, someone who can lay down the groove in earnest and sing freely at the same time. Daves fun to watch and great to hear.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Dave had visited Austin, liked being there, found a place to settle in, and moved down to Texas. Austin has gained a uniquely gifted soul to count amongst those gifted artists already present here. When you hear Daves voice, youll remember it. When you have the opportunity to see and hear he and his compatriots perform, jump on it. Dave will move you.

Guitarist Danny Bresett. Danny is a terrific, virtuoso-level guitarist. Originally from Houston, his playing style borrows from cutting-edge rock, jazz, blues, and country styles which comes together into Dannys own personal sound.

Bassist Peter Richards. Pete is one groovin bass player, rock-solid in time and feeling, the pivot-point from which the music does spin. He has often been the bassman of choice for many Austin favorites. If Petes holding down the low end, you know youre gonna groove.

Keyboardist Scott Doyle. Scott plays the piano in a jazzy way like Herbie Hancock, the organ in a rootsy way like Garth Hudson, and adds synthesizer sounds that gives the music a singular, unique flavor. Scotts playing stirs the imagination.

Drummer & Vocalist Dave Christianson. Dave's great voice and sensational drumming propels his band through the songs he has composed, or in interpreting cover tunes that he likes to sing and play. When you hear Daves performance, you recognize his sound immediately.
