"Our last “Aim To Inspire” - November 2012"

Our last “Aim To Inspire” entry comes from singer/songwriter David Rogue. His debut album Victim of My Circumstance is available on iTunes NOW so be sure to pick it up and check out what David had to say! A song can be a very powerful thing. It can stir emotions that run the gamut from sorrow to pure elation. A song can also evoke memories, both good and bad. I am sure that I am not alone when I say that, when I hear a certain song, I’ll start thinking of a place I visited in the past or have a flashback of an experience with a friend or family member. I associate certain songs with different periods and events in my life. A song has a very singular power to tap into one’s consciousness. - NKD Magazine

"Blending an effusive old school sense of class - October 2012"

“Blending an effusive old school sense of class with ’80s-style bombast, Rogue’s got a sound that’s genuinely unlike anything out there. His voice resounds potently, echoing Jim Morrison but with a bounce a la Billy Joel. Ultimately though, he’s a rogue in his own right, and that’s what makes Victim of My Circumstance so unique and undeniable.”

"David Rogue Interview on PensEyeView.com - May 26, 2009"

It hasn’t taken very long for David Rogue to infiltrate the sometimes impassable barrier to success on the New York City indy scene – less than a year into his singer/songwriter endeavors and the guy is already garnering pats on the back from organizations as respected as the New York Post. While Rogue hasn’t been on the stage for as long as it seems, he has been preparing for this type of success for some time – traveling for years prior to his breakthrough, around the world collecting melodies, rhythms and lyrics that would fit his musical styling perfectly......

"David Rogue Played Spike Hill on January 8, 2009"

David Rogue Played Spike Hill on January 8, 2009

I listened to the music streaming on David Rogue's MySpace profile a few weeks ago and posted a show preview. After seeing David perform live at Spike Hill, I don't think his studio material does him justice.

I had "pigeonholed" David as alt-country but his music is closer to that of Chris Isaak. When playing live, David and his band have more of that Sun Studios rockabilly/country sound.

I saw Chris Isaak early in his career opening for Suzanne Vega and David's set reminded me of this performance (g*d, I'm getting old - this show was over 20 years ago). It is kind of funny is that David's band includes long-time Suzanne Vega guitarist Mark Schulman (who tossed some very tasty solos into David's set).

Singing at coffee shops with an acoustic guitar, David built a strong fan base in New York, and within his first year as a full-time musician, with over 40 shows to his credit, he made his way to the famous SXSW Austin, Texas music festival in 2009. By this time, David had already garnered over 20,000 friends on MySpace. Shortly thereafter, David began performing to capacity audiences at many of the New York City hot spots including Mercury Lounge, Canal Room and Rockwood Music Hall. His fanbase and following continued to grow, and with over 100,000 YouTube views from his live performances and over 10,000 YouTube subscribers, a mention in the NY Post for his song “Why You Runnin’,” a nod from Citybuzz TV as a must-see entertainer, his song “Victim of My Circumstance” having been featured in the award-winning film “The Pill,” David felt it was time to record a full-length record.

During one of David’s shows, RK\ Roman Klun, a 2X Grammy-nominated New York record producer and mix engineer came to see David perform, immediately understanding David’s influences and approach. After a few discussions, a direction was established, “let’s make a David Rogue record.” RK enlisted some of the industries most notable musicians… Jim Keltner-drums (John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Taveling Wilbury’s), Tony Levin-bass (Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, John Lennon), Rick Marotta-drums (Carly Simon, Steely Dan, James Taylor), Ben Butler-guitar (Rod Stewart, George Michael, Jonatha Brooke), Aaron Comess-drums (Spin Doctors, Edie Brickell, Joan Osborne), among many other greats. In addition, legendary record producer Phil Ramone (Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Paul Simon) was enlisted to produce the vocals for David’s power ballad “The Ride,” which David sang with the beautifully-voiced Kristin Hoffmann. After 6 months of production, the record known as “Victim of My Circumstance” reached the finish line with flying colors.

On September 29th, 2012, David performed his new record “Victim of My Circumstance” for the first time to a sold out show at Joe’s Pub in New York. Since then, David Rogue has been seen and heard across the nation on “Fox News Live” with Laura Ingle, “Zach Sang and The Gang” radio show, “Celebrity Service,” “Artistdirect.com” and has received rave reviews praising his timeless songs, vocal abilities and his showmanship as the new up-and-coming entertainer of his generation.
