"Reifer Releases New Single"

Nowadays it seems as if the only objective of entertainers is to entertain the masses.

But one artist who is breaking the status quo is Debbie Reifer.

Known for her soulful, easy and emotion filled performances, it is also a well known fact that her music is heavily filled with messages. Messages which report on human conditions, tell stories, educate, motivate, empower; and go much deeper than just entertaining. - Barbados Today

"Q&A With New Artist Debbie Reifer"

Barbados may only be 166 square miles but if possesses a wealth of musical talent that far outsizes that small number. Massive success stores (Rihanna, Shontelle, Vita Chambers, Hal Linton etc.) may be few, but Barbados houses so many talented artists that the dream of keeping track of them all is just that, a dream.
An exceptional artist may pop up here and another one over there, but out of them all, Debbie Reifer stands apart and shines ever so brightly. From the moment her career began, she has been moving at warp speed towards the galaxy of success with an unrivaled voice and stage presence.
"Human, soulful, easy", are the words she uses to describe her music, and sum it up better. - Hello! Magazine, Barbados Advocate

"Honey Jam Barbados 2012: Where the 'honeys' come out to play"

We had been hearing about Debbie for 3 months, finally having the chance to hear her exceptional serene vocals first-hand. Her performance of "Amber" took the award for most intimate during the show, as it was raw, organic and emotional. In a sense, it was flawless. - Barbados Today

Bio

Like many artists, singing and writing started as an outlet for her as a child and evolved into a craft she loved and adored. Heavily influenced by songwriters such as Sade, Amel Larrieux & Corinne Bailey Rae, Debbie’s writing style reflects a tender articulation of the human condition and offers musical therapy for the soul. With her laid back vocal style, it's easy to get lost in the mood she brings to her music. Her "Heart's Like Mine" EP is everything that is human, soulful and easy; from raw and organic tracks like "Amber" to carefree compositions like "We Are Love".

Though only starting her professional journey in music in 2012, Debbie has hit the ground running. She released her first local single “Amber” in November of 2012, followed closely by fan favorite “We are Love” in February 2013 and “Til I Die” in August 2013. On the performance circuit, the nominee for the 2014 Barbados Music Awards "Best New Artist" recently performed during two of the Canadian Music Week 2013 showcases in Toronto, Canada after being selected from an international field of thousands. She also appeared as the headlining act at Redbones Blues Cafe in Jamaica in September of 2013.  Her first single “Amber” was recently chosen to promote The Pixel Project’s 2014 anti-domestic violence campaign and can be found on the organization’s charity album release.

Debbie has also begun to draw the attention of some of the world’s elite. She delighted guests when she performed for American celebrities Erin Fetherston and Gabe Saporta at their wedding on May 26, 2013. The wedding was subsequently featured in Martha Stewart Weddings magazine that year. She was subsequently listed in the magazine's "Get Ready to Hit the Dance Floor! 27 Bands to Hire on Your Wedding Day" article as one of only two bands mentioned from her home country of Barbados. With a rapidly spreading reputation for bringing world-class laid back and soulful entertainment to private events, she also performed for Sir Alex Ferguson in January 2014, Lord Anthony Bamford in March 2014 and Prince Andrew, Duke of York in April 2014.

Aspiring to write music for TV and Film, Debbie had the privilege of writing for the local (Barbadian) film “Chrissy”. The film has gone on to receive international acclaim from the Caribbean film community in the UK, Canada, Jamaica and the U.S. where her song “I Did It” can be heard in the film’s score. " Writing for 'Chrissy' warmed my heart. The film, touches the soul. It tugs at bits and pieces of you that have forgotten in the hustle and bustle of life... that everyone has their own stories, their own tragedies and their own triumphs. I was so blessed to be able to write music for such an amazing story of struggle, faith and triumph." says Reifer.

Debbie also went on to write the theme song "The Ruin" for the 2015 film "Vigilante - The Crossing". The Barbadian film premiered at the PanAfrican Film Festival in Los Angeles, California and the Sundance Film Festival in Cannes, France.

Her most recent album release "Noel", warmed the hearts of fans all over the world and earned her a nomination for  the 2015 Barbados Music Awards "Album of the Year". Debbie is currently recording a new EP scheduled for release in Spring of 2016.
