"RIFF RAFF AND DOG BUS COLLABORATE ON NEW VIDEO"

You might remember Dog Bus from Disband and we’re happy to report that they’re still keeping it tight on their game as they recently collaborated with Diplo-signed Riff Raff, one of the most intriguing hip hop artists that have come out of YouTube (check out a link to his latest mixtape here). Their track is called Rap Game Michelle Kwan with Riff Raff and Dog Bus sharing the bill. The video is ridiculously awesome with Riff Raff selling some MTV swag to the Dog Bus boys. Watch it here (and be prepared to hit replay)! - MuchMusic

"THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MILEY CYRUS BOARDS THE DOG BUS"

We last saw Dog Bus when they collaborated with Riff Raff for their track Rap Game Michelle Kwan. And now they’re back with the help of Lindsay Lohan, Hillary Duff, and Miley Cyrus… kinda. The trio hit up a club donning masks of the three infamous starlets for their video for Miley Cyrus and all twerkin’ hell breaks loose. Don’t believe us? Watch the video right below!

And don’t forget to check out their new album Booty Seizure which was produced by James Robertson who has worked with Down With Webster and Tino Zolfo who has also produced Carly Rae Jepsen!

Dog Bus, Miley Cyrus - MuchMusic

"Dog Bus takes rap to fun level"

After their recent performance on MuchMusic's indie talent search disBAND, Waterloo hip-hoppers Dog Bus were unanimously declared by the judges as one of the hottest new bands in the country.

The judges were gobsmacked by the energy and abandon with which the boys of Dog Bus -- namely Jules Mkools (age 17) and Jakey Mkspankey (11) -- unleashed their song Robot.

The track is an undeniably, almost annoyingly catchy ditty about the benefits of android ownership ("If I had a robot it'd be cool, he'd do all my homework and go to school"), and a pretty good indication of what to expect on the band's debut album.

That self-titled disc, which the band will officially launch with a CD release party tonight at The Starlight, delivers a barrage of thumping beats, grabby hooks and the kind of sweetly silly lyricism that could only come from kids not yet old enough to vote (or, in Jakey's case, ride on certain roller-coasters).

The tag-team of MCs in Dog Bus (who in real life are Josh and Jakob Koehler-Lees) spend much of the album rapping about lemonade, ice cream, zombies and candy -- hardly the fodder of the hardcore gangsta rappers they are facetiously imitating.

It's G-rated comedic rap that evokes the goofier moments of the Beastie Boys, with nonsensical lyricism ("Ridin' in my spaceship ba-deepa-deep deep, starin' at Uranus he's a creepa-creep-creep") hollered over surprisingly solid accompaniment.

While Jules and Jakey are clearly the stars of the show -- and loving every second of it -- they've enjoyed some help from high places.

It certainly doesn't hurt that their dad is Josh Koehler, co-owner of The Starlight, who has recruited some of the club's usual suspects to contribute to the Dog Bus project.

The album was produced by veteran Waterloo singer-songwriter Danny Michel, who proves surprisingly adept at laying down the beats. Rumour has it Michel is a huge fan of hip hop but until Dog Bus came along he had no viable means of expressing it (his folk-pop fan base wouldn't take kindly to a rap album).

Additional voices on the album include Starlight poster artist Jon (Deep in the Kutt) Kutt and Juno-nominated singer-songwriter Luke Doucet, both of whom clearly enjoy the unabashed frivolity of the endeavour.

The debut disc by Dog Bus is exactly what it should be -- a riotous, instantly likable and utterly inconsequential piece of aural fluff designed to make people smile and dance.
