"Film"

-Doug Scofield's lilting yet noble score is enormously appealing. - VARIETY

"Radio"

Memories of Hall and Oates and even Stevie Wonder. Horns, twang-twang guitar, solid beat, cool groove. Im sure this young writer/musician has a long and glorious road ahead. Tune in and get to know him before he becomes a monster.

"The Music"

8/13/2007 This guy is brilliant. Amazing writing of a genre someplace between Billy Joel and Ben Folds. It's just a remarkable puzzle to know that an artist like Doug isn't as much of a household name as those two! The playing and production are completely top notch. Perfect. The vocal performance flawless. The production totally professional to my ears. I have to admit, I've heard Doug's music before, and I am already a fan. Does this particular song crossover into the mainstream of music sales in 2007? Actually, I d on't know. OK - several other decades smile through during this one, but it feels pretty timeless to me. Both of my thumbs are aloft. KEN MORRISON - The Fame Game

"More Praise"

8/42007 Listen well to this Indie Masterpiece. This is how to put a song together. Well balanced, dynamic, fine production and musicianship. A hit song if I've ever heard one. I find it amazing that Doug Scofield isn't signed up to a major. Just goes to show how stupid thry are. ARTHUR MAY - Meer Music

"Definitely One To Watch..."

8/21/2007 Great sound that out Joels Joels,...Great production, great vocal, good musicians...undoubtably high calibre compositions. - SFX

"Cohen to McCartney..."

10/31/07
Awesome! Great variety ...production ..... great music. Amazing mix of moods and styles ..... great chord and rhythm changes ... nothing predictable... great surprises around each musical corner . After listening to music for over 40 years to get to the point where you can almost predict the next chord ..not on any of these songs ... very unique and beautiful stuff ...... from Cohen to McCartney .... but best of all..mostly Scofield! Amazing job ..... and the sound is flawless. - M. Morgado

Bio

Doug Scofield - influenced by such legends as The Beatles, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and The Eagles. From his early workhorse days as a New York City singer/songwriter to his current role as film scorer and leader of rock/pop band Doug Scofield and the Evolution, Scofield strives to create music that is both accessible to audiences and unpredictable in style and lyrics.

In 2008 Scofield teamed up with co-producer/writer Ryan West (Jennifer Lopez, P. Diddy, Bette Midler) and drumming legend Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel) to release Mortal's Point of View through Rock & Reality Records. Singles from the album earned Scofield awards for National Artist of the Year (2007 Hollywood FAME Awards) and Male Singer/Songwriter of the Year and AAA Male Vocalist of the Year (2006 Los Angeles Music Awards). Mortal's Point of View has sold more than 10,000 copies since its release in January 2008, and tracks have received airplay on Internet and FM radio stations such as Fame Games Radio and The Global Virtual Radio Show.

On Mortal's Point of View, Scofield tries to avoid writing songs about simple romantic love. You'll never hear Ooh baby, I love you and other popular subjects. Instead, he relates his own experiences and unique worldview. Some songs are meant to be funny (Makes Me Wonder), and Hunt You Down is about species extinction.

A classically-trained multi-instrumentalist who attended The Julliard School of NYC and the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA. Scofield recently completed scores for the award-winning film In Bed with My Books and Trifling with Fate (recording released in 2000 through Ironic Records). Scofield's scoring styles are diverse, ranging from Shakespeare-meets-Mozart to Phillip Glass-plays-James Taylor.

Scofield played keyboards and sang backups for The LIGHTS, a group whose 2006 album Walk On Razors (Ivory Pistol Records) received wide critical acclaim. Other former bands include: Fast Fingers, Uncle Willi, Guilty As Sin and The Newsmakers, with appearances at New Yorks' CBGB's, Carnegie Hall, The Bitter End, Webster Hall, and West Hollywood's The Whisky A Go Go.
