EFFT

EFFT is a four letter word consisting of Noah Phillips (guitar and electronics), Jordan Glen (kit and percussion), Curtis McKinney (Bass and electronics), and Sarah Palmer (Vocals and guitar). These four musicians met through school (Mills College) and have improvisation as their common thread. Through playing music, EFFT's goal is to achieve transcendence over survivalist mentality. We work to eat, we sleep to work, we play music to play music. When people stop to listen, then they too are breaking free of the idea that survival must control our every move. EFFT has been compared to Suburban Lawns, Cocteau Twins, Mogwai, and Broken Social Scene.
Sarah Palmer’s vocal acrobatics and her poignant and dreamy lyrics, offer up something half earnest surrender and half presumptuous irreverence. The surreal textures and harmonies of the two guitars ping pong between Sonic Youth and Red House Painters.The bass grants counter melodies and head nod beats and breathes along with what couldn’t be described in any other way than supernatural intonation on a drum kit.
