Just My Situation

Written By: Duvall/Giles/Vergauwen

Just My Situation
(Duvall/Giles/Vergauwen)

How did I ever get here?
Will I ever make it there?
Can you tell me why I can’t I feel
The wide-open air?

Just my situation...my situation

Can you hear my cry?
Whimper turning into a sigh
Sure, sure you can make it happen
Please get your hand off my thigh

Just my situation...my situation

Chorus:
That’s how it is to be a starving artist
Someday the world will hear what I have to say
That’s how it is to be a starving artist
Oh well...welcome to LA

Sick of waiting by the hotel phone
Sick of feeling used and waking up alone
Got used to feeling burned
Got nowhere else to turn

Just my situation...my situation

Chorus:
That’s how it is to be a starving artist
Someday the world will hear what I have to say
That’s how it is to be a starving artist
Oh well...welcome to LA

Don’t know what to do
Don’t know who to screw
Don’t know how to say
It’s my situation...my situation

The specials today are:
BLT and A
Regular and sweet potato fries
I’m getting old
My heart is best served cold

Chorus:
That’s how it is to be a starving artist
Someday the world will hear what I have to say
That’s how it is to be a starving artist
Oh well...welcome to LA

Cadillac

Written By: Duvall/Giles

Cadillac
(Duvall/Giles)

Oh damn straight I took the money and ran
Hopped outta the back of that beaten down truck
Streak of luck had all dried up
Some folks will never see how low I really am

Packed all I owned into a small duffle bag
Headed out west to settle a score
When I saw that bullet fly through the LA night
You know that Dallas skyline wasn’t so big anymore

Chorus:
From broken hearts to shattered dreams
Everything in life is harder than it seems
When that dust settles there ain’t no looking back
Life is much smoother in a cadillac

Drinking alone in the backseat with John, June and Willie
You know people build you up just to let you down
They’ll say just about anything to you in this town
They don’t know I’ll burn your pretty little house to the ground

Chorus:
From broken hearts to shattered dreams
Everything in life is harder than it seems
When that dust settles there ain’t no looking back
Life is much smoother in a cadillac

Bridge:
Remember when my mama was braiding my hair
And my dreams were there to take if I dared
Back before I found out that life wasn’t fair
But now your car’s mine if you leave your keys in there

Chorus:
From broken hearts to shattered dreams
Everything in life is harder than it seems
When that dust settles there ain’t no looking back
Life is much smoother in a cadillac

Tell Me Again

Written By: Duvall/Giles/Vergauwen

Tell me, tell me, tell me again
Tell me one more time and we won't be friends
Holding me down til I can’t defend what you say
You got my hands tied round my back
Using me like a punching bag
You keep treating me like that
Better get used to me walking away

Swing back
If you taunt me
Swing back
I can
Swing back
But consider yourself warned
I’ll hit so hard I won’t swing again

Push me, push me, push me again
You keep on pushing me just to see how far I bend
There’s only so many times I can put my foot down
Keep pushing like this I won’t be around

Swing back
If you taunt me
Swing back
I can
Swing back
But consider yourself warned
I’ll hit so hard I won’t need to swing again

Tell me, tell me, tell me again
Tell me, tell me, tell me again
I dare ya
Tell me, tell me, tell me again
Oh I dare you to...Oh I dare you to

Swing back....swing back

Til I Can't Stand

Written By: Duvall/Giles

I’ve opened up my heart
Just to watch love walk away
They say that time heals all but I
Don’t wanna wait one more day

Oh, don’t wanna feel this
Oh, I don’t need this

I need someone who
Makes me feel understood
Knows right from wrong
He’s bad but makes me feel so good

Oh, complete me
Sweep me off my feet yeah

Chorus:
Kiss me til I can’t stand
Im in the palm of your hand
I’ll build my house upon the sand
Crash on me like the wild, wild sea
Kiss me till I can’t breathe
No matter what you ask of me
Just tell me where, that’s where I’ll be
Be my man
Kiss me til I can’t stand

Somedays they shine so bright I can’t help but smile
Somedays are nothing but fallen tears
Somedays I feel so free I play just like a child
Somedays, somedays...they feel just like years

These blues make me feel helpless
I need you to get me out of this

Chorus:
Kiss me til I can’t stand
Im in the palm of your hand
I’ll build my house upon the sand
Crash on me like the wild, wild sea
Kiss me till I can’t breathe
No matter what you ask of me
Just tell me where, that’s where I’ll be
Be my man
Kiss me til I can’t stand

Crowded Street

Written By: Duvall/Giles

I lived at the end of a crowded street
My only friend was my shuffling feet
The daylight noise made me weep
Living at the end of a crowded street

Walking down my crowded street
Mid December, frozen feet
The rip of bare wind made me weep
Walking down my crowded street

Chorus:
You came along and set me free
You came along and let me be
You came along and you made me feel whole
You came along and I don’t wanna feel alone anymore

New York City’s got it all
Desires 100 stories tall
Then I heard Gabriel’s trumpet call
The city dropped me off and made me crawl

Chorus:
You came along and set me free
You came along and let me be
You came along and you made me feel whole
You came along and I don’t wanna feel alone anymore

Now I can go anywhere
Hold my head up high without any fear
I was lost before I met you

Chorus:
You came along and set me free
You came along and let me be
You came along and you made me feel whole
You came along and I don’t wanna feel alone anymore

Speak for Me

Written By: Duvall/Giles

I opened up my mouth
So much I had to say
The words would not come out
Got up and walked away

Whiskey help me speak
Tonight I feel so weak
Can’t find my own two feet
Don’t know where I’ll land
Help him understand
Need him to be my man
One of us is gonna leave
Whiskey speak for me

We used to have a lot of fun
No consequences at all
I was his number one
Now its alcohol

Whiskey speak for me
Tonight I feel so weak
Can’t find my own two feet
Don’t know where I’ll land
Help him understand
Need him to be my man
One of us is gonna leave
Whiskey speak for me

I’m in a triangle of love
He can’t get enough
Of either one of us
I gotta get tough

Whiskey help me speak
Tonight I feel so weak
Can’t find my own two feet
Don’t know where I’ll land
Help him understand
Need him to be my man
One of us is gonna leave
Whiskey speak for me
One of us is gonna leave
Whiskey speak for me

I opened up my mouth
So much I had to say
The words would not come out
I got up and walked away

Drive Us Apart

Written By: Duvall/Giles

YOU CAN’T DRIVE US APART
NOW I'M FINALLY WHOLE
UNLESS YOU WANT TO BREAK MY HEART THEN YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO PAY THE TOLL YOU CAN TRY AND TRY AGAIN
BUT IN THE END YOU WON'T WIN
UNLESS YOU WANT TO BREAK MY HEART
YOU CAN’T DRIVE US APART

WHY
DO YOU WANNA MAKE CRY
THIS LOVE’S NOT A LIE
I ?M NEVER GONNA SAY GOOD-BYE

YOU CAN TRY AND PUSH US AWAY
YOU CAN TRY AND BREAK ME SLOW
BUT SOON THERE'S GONNA BE A BRIGHTER DAY I HOPE YOU ARE READY WHEN I GET UP AND GO

WHY
DO YOU WANNA MAKE CRY
THIS LOVE’S NOT A LIE
I ?M NEVER GONNA SAY GOOD-BYE

THERE'S A HIGHWAY STRAIGHT OUT OF TOWN
THERE'S A TOWN AT THE END OF THE WORLD
THERE'S A WORLD THAT CAN'T FOUND
UNLESS YOU WANNA COME AROUND

WHY, WHY, WHY
DO YOU WANNA MAKE CRY, CRY, CRY
THIS LOVE’S NOT A LIE, LIE, LIE,
I ?M NEVER GONNA SAY GOOD-BYE, BYE, BYE

Out of Focus

Written By: Duvall/Giles

From the first step through the door
You thought you had me pinned
The history stamped across my face
Like you read the wrong bulletin

No chance to make this story my own
No time to waste at this unturned milestone
Its time to make myself understood
The red letter I wore would not come unglued

CHORUS:
You think you know me, but you don’t, you don’t
You think you know me, but you don’t, you don’t
If you look deep enough to notice
I got enough love inside for both of us
If you look deep enough to notice
Oh you’re gonna see the truth is out of focus

You’ll find Im not just a material girl
And I don’t sit at the top of the world
There is more to me than what meets the eye
Who I am and what you think ain’t ever gonna coincide

CHORUS:
You think you know me, but you don’t, you don’t
You think you know me, but you don’t, you don’t
If you look deep enough to notice
I got enough love inside for both of us
If you look deep enough to notice
Oh you’re gonna see the truth is out of focus

BRIDGE:
A blurry lens that masks what’s real
On the surface it looks ideal
The more you look, the more you see
Peel back the layers surrounding me
(x3)

CHORUS:
You think you know me, but you don’t, you don’t
You think you know me, but you don’t, you don’t
If you look deep enough to notice
I got enough love inside for both of us
If you look deep enough to notice
Oh you’re gonna see the truth is out of focus

Help Me Willie

Written By: Duvall/Giles/Vergauwen

A week from hell in LA, trying to fly back home
On a plane full of strangers she felt so alone
A ragged old guitar was taking up her space,
next to a Red-headed stranger with a well-known face

Hesitation, frustration she sat across the aisle
so pissed she almost missed it when the legend smiled Like a guardian angel with braids in his hair
As the plane took off she said a little prayer

Help me, Willie
I can't do it on my own Help me, Willie
Help me get back home

She started to cry he said come over, sit down
For hours they shared stories, how they've had the run around
She said I've done it by the book, now every page has been burned
Always one-step behind...I got no where left to turn

Help me, Willie
I can't do it on my own Help me, Willie
Help me get back home

It took 2000 miles but she finally knew
Theres a difference between chasing and following through
Willie wanted her to understand
She's already home, this plane never lands

Help me, Willie
I can't do it on my own Help me, Willie
Help me get back home
Help Me Willie

Keep Holding On

Written By: Duvall/Giles/Vergauwen

I wear my heart on my sleeve
Cuz I want to believe
In something...something

In what can knock me down
And what can pick me up
From nothing...Nothing

It’ll steal all that’s there
And leave you in the rain stripped bare
Waiting and For what may never come

It’s not like waiting in line
It comes on its own time
You can’t do a damn thing about it

But believe
In what I can’t see
Holding on when all my hope is gone
Believe
In what I can’t see
And be the light until the dawn
Keep holding on

I wear my heart on my sleeve
Cuz I want to believe
In something...something bigger than myself

I’ve seen it in familiar faces
I’ve seen it in the darkest places
At night
Far from the light

Embrace this
Changes
What makes us
What takes us to the door
Keep knocking
That ship keeps rocking
Til it reaches the shore
