Fremont John

Fremont John

BandPopAdult Contemporary

A strong, versatile voice (think Jonny Lang or, Rob Thomas) and a very clean, melodic guitar style (think acoustic Santana meets Craig Chaquico ) are Fremont's magic . Whether an original work or a carefully selected cover tune, John always owns the song.

JERICHO’S WALL

Written By: (Words & Music by Fremont John Ashton)

You want to talk what would we say?
It’s all been said in a thousand ways.
To be redundant, is to me repugnant
I have nothin’ to say you haven’t heard before.

We built a wall both, you and I
With stones of words that made us cry.
Like Jericho’s Wall, let it tumble down.

Hold me in your arms and say no words.
And then, this wall will seem absurd.
Like Jericho’s Wall, let it tumble down

Why waste our breath; get more upset?
Let’s take some time and, just let it rest.
Silence is golden so I’ve been told
Come to me now don’t say anything more.

We built a wall both, you and I
With stones of words that made us cry.
Like Jericho’s Wall, let it tumble down.

Hold me in your arms and say no words.
And then, this wall will seem absurd.
Like Jericho’s Wall, let it tumble down.

Let’s go to bed it’s getting late.
This stacking stones can surely wait.
Like Jericho’s Wall, let it tumble down.

And, in the morning when we rise
We’re bound to see through different eyes.
And then, this wall can tumble down.

(3x) Let it tumble down, yeah
Let it tumble down, yeah.
Like Jericho’s Wall, let it tumble down.

We built a wall both, you and I
With stones of words that made us cry.
Like Jericho’s Wall, let it tumble …….

Devil's Dune

Written By: Fremont John Ashton

DEVIL’S DUNE
(A soldier’s song)
words and music by Fremont John Ashton @ 2003
CD: “Timeline”

I left my wife and little kids behind
Now, I’m holed up in this desert blind oh, oh
I wanna go home.
And leave this Devil’s Dune.

I’m here to fight in this Iraqi war.
To take a life is something I abhor, oh oh
I wanna go home.
And leave this Devil’s Dune.

Sleepless nights for endless
Days we fight that menace
In this sandy haze
As the oil wells blaze.

Wind and sand are blinding
Here we stand not finding
Any hope of rest
Still, we give our best.

They said this war wouldn’t last too long.
We’ll hit ‘em hard with our “Shock and Awe” oh, oh
I wanna go home.
And leave this Devil’s Dune.

And though, it’s harder than at first we planned.
Let freedom ring in this desert land oh, oh
Then, we can all go home.
And, leave this Devil’s Dune.

Sleepless nights for endless
Days we fight that menace
In this sandy haze
As the oil wells blaze.

Wind and sand are blinding
Here we stand not finding
Any hope of rest.
Still, we give our best.

We fought a bloody battle through the night.
I lost my buddy in the firefight oh, oh
Some good American’s died.
On this Devil’s Dune.

I pray this war will be over soon.
We’ll be the victors on this Devil’s Dune oh, oh.
Still, I wanna go home
And leave this Devil’s Dune.

Oh oh. I wanna go home and leave this Devil’s Dune
Oh oh. I’ll bid salaam, shalom to this Devil’s Dune.

No Pity On Me

NO PITY ON ME
Words and music by Fremont John Ashton @ 2003
CD: “Timeline”

I just need your lovin’ Babe I don’t need your sympathy
If this is just some mercy stuff then, get away from me.
I just need your lovin’. I don’t need your sympathy.

If you’re holdin’ back on me making love won’t feel right.
I’ll just go and pack my things. I’ll be outta here tonight.
I just need your lovin’. Don’t you have No Pity On Me.

All the trouble that I’ve seen you know I brought it on myself
I just need your lovin’ Babe. I don’t your nothin’ else.
I just need your lovin’. I don’t need your sympathy.

I just need your lovin’. Don’t you have No Pity On Me.

SOLO

I just need your lovin’ Babe. I don’t need your sympathy
If this is just some mercy stuff then, get away from me.
I just need your lovin’. I don’t need your sympathy.

You try to get me in the sack. You try to play me for a fool.
But you’re the one that’s holdin’ back while breaking every rule.
I just need your lovin’. Don’t you have No Pity On Me.

Yeah, I’ve seen him hangin’ around your door like a dog waitin’ to be fed.
I see come around once more I’m a bull seein’ red. .
I just need your lovin’. Tell me now, is it him or is it me?

I just need your lovin’. I don’t need your sympathy.
I just need your lovin’ Babe. Don’t you have No Pity On Me.

Save My Life

Save My Life
Words & Music by Fremont John Ashton @ 2002
CD: “Timeline”

When she told me she was leaving.
It hit me like a heart attack.
I was jolted into grieving
Like she’d died and wasn’t coming back.

When she told me how she once loved me
And, how she thought our love would last.
You know, she never looked more lovely.
And my time with her had passed so fast.

Save My Life. I’m gonna die
Save My Life. Somebody help me.
Save My Life. I’m goin’ down,
I’m goin’ down. I’m goin’ down.

When she told me she felt empty.
Until another stole her heart
I was going into a tremble.
That’s the moment when I fell apart.

When she told me she was sorry.
I watched my life go down the drain.
But, there’s a moral to the story
How a man can live to love again.

Save My Life. I’m gonna die
Save My Life. You gotta help me.
Save My Life. I’m goin’ down,
I’m goin’ down. I’m goin’ down

When she left me, my pain ignited.
To see her go burned me like a flame.
But then, one day we reunited.
That’s a day I’d love to live again.

Save My Life. I’m gonna live
Save My Life. I got my woman.
Save My Life. I’m comin’ ‘round.
I’m comin’ ‘round. I’m comin’ ‘round.

Timeline

TIMELINE
Words & Music by: Fremont John Ashton Ó 2002
CD: “Timeline”

VERSE 1:
So, you say you want to be a dancer.
You tell me that has always been your dream.
But, you say you don’t like taking chances.
So, you contrive some easy scheme.
You justify your empty life.
You take those pills to ease your strife.

CHORUS:
You are living on a Timeline.
No time-outs and no time-ins.
Not like those games you play with children.
You start this game and then you play
Until it ends; whoa-oh until it ends; yeah-ah until it ends.

VERSE 2:
So, live your dream. Go be that dancer.
If that’s who you are you soon will see.
Take the risk and be its romancer.
Go out and be who you need to be.
Don’t give a thought to what they say.
Don’t let ’em have another day.

CHORUS
You are living on a Timeline.
No time-outs and no time-ins.
What good’s this life that you’ve been building
If it only leads you to dead-ends?
Into dead-ends; whoa oh, into dead-ends; yeah-ah into dead-ends.

BRIDGE
Maybe you’ll never hit the big time
Maybe you won’t find fortune or fame.
But, you’re on this earth for such a short while
And, you’ve got to play to win the game.
Go on; get out there while you can.
And, give ‘em hell when you dance!

CHORUS & OUTTRO

You are living on a Timeline.
No time-outs and no time-ins.
What good’s this life that you’ve been building
If it only leads you to dead-ends?
Into dead-ends; whoa oh, into dead-ends; yeah-ah into dead-ends.

You are living on a Timeline
No time-outs and no time–ins.
Not like the games you play with children
You start this game and then, you play… yeah, you play…oh you play…until it ends.
