Grand Opening is a rowdy rock trio comprised of Rex Spangle (Dane Hartsell) on lead vocals and guitar, Jordan Scannella on bass and backing vocals, and Andrew Shoniker on drums and backing vocals. The band was conceived in Toronto, Canada but was born in New York City. Unabashedly vulgar and often hilarious lyrical content are sure to catch the ear of the casual listener. With power ballads and all-out rock anthems, the band takes cues from obvious influences such as Guns N’ Roses, Alice Cooper, and AC/DC as well as more particular artists such as Frank Zappa, Tenacious D, and David Bowie. For a moment, you might think it’s a modern version of Spinal Tap...but that was just a movie.
