Also in 2010 she signed an international publishing deal with respected independent company Bucks Music. Gigs and tours in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the UK increased her international live profile and she is set to make her first live appearances in the USA early in 2011.

She set up her own production company to make her second solo album and that album, 'Synchronised Swimmers', has now been licensed across 14 countries including the USA and Canada.

Her international fan base was further boosted in by two live sessions for BBC Radio 2 and a hugely popular online Christmas concert broadcast from Iceland.

These are just the latest events in a busy music career so far. Hafdis toured the world at the age of 15 with the Icelandic band Gus Gus and later went on to be a featured vocalist with F C Kahuna, co-writing the hits 'Hayling' and 'Machine say yes'.

Her debut solo album, 'Dirty Paper Cup' received gushing reviews across Europe and was voted 'Best Pop Album of the Year' at the 2006 Icelandic Music Awards.

Since 2007, she has regularly toured the UK and Europe and played at key festivals, including Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Secret Garden, In The City, Camden Crawl (all UK) SXSW (USA), Hultsfred (Sweden), Airwaves (Iceland), Spot (Denmark) Europavox (France) and Midnight Sun (Czech Republic).

She has made a series of delightful video blogs which showcase her effortlessly quirky personality and great sense of fun. They can all be seen on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/hafdishuld

She has also recorded songs for TV ads in Europe, appeared in the Mercedes 2008 advert, was a key player in a viral ad campaign for Reyka Vodka and appeared in several Icelandic films.

She was a featured vocalist on Tricky's latest album, 'Knowle West Boy'.

Oldest Friend

Written By: Hafdis Huld, Alisdair Wright

Oldest Friend

Over noodles from yesterday
I’m attempting some kind of a talk
not that it matters anyway
it’s a lonely road you walk
life size cutout in the living room
of a woman that should be cold
I think it’s safe for me to assume
that you need to be told

Not sure what I’m doing here
but you’re my oldest friend
things were so much easier at school
this grown up world is tricky
I’m holding out my hand
it’s unwritten but it’s the rule

The green clock on the table
tells me you should be dressed by now
you might feel slightly unable
but you’ll get back up somehow
were it the other way around
I know you‘d sit in the dark with me
until the courage could be found
to get on with plan B

Not sure what I’m doing here
but you’re my oldest friend
things were so much easier at school
this grown up world is tricky
I’m holding out my hand
it’s unwritten but it’s the rule

There’s a storm in the cup of coffee
I’m about to drink
in it you are treading water
trying not to sink

Not sure what I’m doing here
but you’re my oldest friend
things were so much easier at school
this grown up world is tricky
I’m holding out my hand
it’s unwritten but it’s the rule
it’s unwritten but it’s the rule

Synchronised Swimmers

Written By: Hafdis Huld, Calum MacColl, Alisdair Wright

Synchronised Swimmers

Like synchronised swimmers
in an ocean of sounds
we’re only beginners
still looking around
it’s a little bit deafening how my inner voice is shouting out

What a lovely mess
through the days we walk
there’s liberating loneliness
in how you never talk
it’s a little bit deafening when my inner voice is shouting out

They’ll come around
just leave you be
feet firmly on the ground
when you’re standing next to me
feet firmly on the ground
when you’re standing next to me

Maybe we’re different
different from who
they so wanna tell us
what they think we should do
it’s a little bit deafening how my inner voice is shouting out

They’ll come around
just leave you be
feet firmly on the ground
when you’re standing next to me
feet firmly on the ground
when you’re standing next to me
shouting out

It’s a little bit deafening when my inner voice is shouting out
it’s a little bit deafening…
it’s a little bit deafening ….
it’s a little bit deafening
when my inner voice is shouting out

Shouting out
we’re synchronised swimmers
shouting out
