Biography

The lines, "Married to the music, its useless, I'm monogamous," pretty much say it all. With a fierce and undying passion for his craft, Hassahn Phenomenon breathes a fresh breath of life into the asthmatic world of music. Combining all the elements it truly takes to move the crowd, this Chicago emcee is on a path to transcend what is considered to be hip-hop. Staying true to him, Hassahn's music is a reflection of everyday life as he spells it out in his song “The Struggle,” when he says, “In every word I recite, I breathe my life through this mic.” Known to many as simply, HP, he has done exactly that as he has brought new life and energy to the game with his debut release, “Pressure.” Whether he is exhibiting his lyrical prowess, scripting an awe-inspiring performance, hosting his radio show, or giving back to his community through is S.O.U.L Writing Seminar, Hassahn is the prototype for what all entertainers should strive to be.

Like a few of his predecessors, Hassahn is the product of two teenage parents that were determined to raise an incredibly gifted child. Like every other Black youth growing up in the city of Chicago, Hassahn has an interesting dichotomy, in that he witnessed struggle, poverty, and everything that is affiliated with the hardships of the city while simultaneously experiencing the middle class lifestyle that was afforded to him by his diverse village style upbringing. With strong support from his family and by not letting the negative situations consume him, he was able to escape the aforementioned ailments and finish college while simultaneously making his mark on the industry. Like those before him, HP is taking hip-hop and music in general to new heights.

Legendary emcee, Rakim once said that, “MC stands for Move the Crowd.” This is the statement that HP lives by. Whether it is making you think, cry, laugh, stand up, or just making you dance, the Phenomenon is brilliant at capturing the essence of the moment. Following in the footsteps of his idol, Michael Jackson, this impeccable lyricist and performer moves the crowd in a way that transcends race, gender, and creed. It is that desire that has led HP to grace many stages around the country, from the world famous Temple Bar in LA to the BET Soundstage in Orlando. He has performed on stage with the likes of Common, Ludacris, Tone Loc, KRS One, and a host of others. His accomplishments are endless. He has a song featured in the major motion picture, Redline and a few independent movies as well. Not just focusing on the big screen, he has also placed songs on major television networks such as ABC, Spike TV, and the CW Network. With a ferocious pen game, he lends his writing skills to several artists including the legendary group Jodeci, as he wrote a song for their highly anticipated new album. Not only that, HP has secured a sponsorship with Roaring Lion energy drink and he is also the host and co-founder of Cypher Lounge Radio. This Chitown wordsmith, has secured partnerships with clothing companies, ring tone companies, and he has been featured in several entertainment publications, ranging from OkayPlayer.com, True Magazine, to the Chicago Tribune’s Red Eye. HP is also the writer and co-producer of the upcoming documentary film, DEMOS, which features Talib Kweli, Naughty By Nature and a host of others. Hassahn’s accomplishments are truly synonymous with his name in that they are truly “Phenomenal.” His buzz, talent, and pure charisma can only be matched by his undying passion to "Move The Crowd" while changing the world in the process. Also, as a member of the creative department for the Ubuntu Global Village Dream Team, Hassahn truly embodies their message of, “I am Because We Are.”

And he is on a vigorous pursuit to satisfy his aforementioned passion. Hassahn is putting “Pressure” on the industry and society to change its focus and let hip-hop breathe once again. When you hear the words, "With every word I recite, I breathe my life through this mic," then and only then, you will have witnessed a true PHENOMENON.

Lyrics

Learn to Love

Written By: Hassahn Phenomenon

Chorus
Monday to Sunday,
Maybe one day we’ll see
That love is whatever, we make it to be
You know I’m chasing dreams,
To give you everything
But I had to learn to love me
Before I could love you
The way I need to

Verse 1
Let me make this clear, God sort of put us here
You and me as we breathe in the same atmosphere
Aaaaah, exhale, inhale breathe it in
Came a long way from the day that we began

Started out just friends, how often we pretend
Telling all our friends, that we are just friends
Then again, we’ve learned, learned that our love returned
Usher in a new day, new ways to let it burn

Take it slow, both had years we had to grow
Shed some tears for him, him I didn’t even know
And she would never be, cause you are my everything
She was only there for me, cause you had a wedding ring

Chasing everything, ass, cash, and my dreams
Life in the fast lane, running with these fast dames
Danica Patricks, the Hollywood actress
If love is game, what a shame, I’ve only practiced

Chorus
Monday to Sunday,
Maybe one day we’ll see
That love is whatever, we make it to be
You know I’m chasing dreams,
To give you everything
But I had to learn to love me
Before I could love you
The way I need to

Verse 2
Learned to love myself so I could love you better
Me and you together, on common ground, found forever
Whatever, baby we can weather any weather
Loved you since LL needed love to “Luv U Better”

On to new endeavors, let us understand each other
When I look at you, I see wife, lover, sister, mother
I hope you see a brother, lover, and your best friend
Music’s been my wife for life, now she lost her husband

I love her to the end but not the way I love us
She don’t know monogamy, we are so monogamous
My philosophy is to love life, learn, and trust
Of course I want success, but success is not enough

Never give you up, life often interrupts
Rather be significant, cause in a sense, it is a must
This is more than lust, with us its much deeper
Sing it to the world, so they can bang it in their speakers, believe it

Chorus
Monday to Sunday,
Maybe one day we’ll see
That love is whatever, we make it to be
You know I’m chasing dreams,
To give you everything
But I had to learn to love me
Before I could love you
The way I need to

Verse 3
This is real love, please don’t auto tune it,
Doubled up my vocals, just to say it twice to show I love you
Only God above you, well maybe me second
Gotta love me, to love you, now that’s the blessing

This is a life lesson, somewhat underrated
Never lie to you, cause if I lie to you, then I am tainted
Want you to love me, and the not the me the lie created
So we can learn to love, love is an understatement

Bridge
Love is love, love, love we can learn to love
Love it can start with us, love we can’t give it up
Love is love, love, love we can learn to love
Love it can start with us, love we can’t give it up
Love is love, love, love we can learn to love
Love it can start with us, love we can’t give it up
Love is love, love, love we can learn to love
Love it can start with us, love we can’t give it up
Repeat (4X)

Chorus (2x)
Monday to Sunday,
Maybe one day we’ll see
That love is whatever, we make it to be
You know I’m chasing dreams,
To give you everything
But I had to learn to love me
Before I could love you
The way I need to

All Night

Written By: Hassahn Phenomenon

Turn the lights low, mic’s up, let’s go
You know name baby, Hassahn Phenomenal
With every pen stroke, wishing I could give you hope
The game is diseased, the mc with the anecdote

I’m a make a toast, glasses up for The Go
Yeah I’m from southside, now I ride on coast
This is for my grown folk searching for an inner scope
Tired of the radio, the daily dose from interscope

I hope your taking notes, easily I approach
The microphone daddy’s home, tell the dj put it on
Tonight let’s right the wrongs, party like we diddy combs
Ladies please, throw them d’s, a’s, b’s, or silicon

I’m in ya itunes, ipods, & iphones,
Therefore your Apple, I got my eyes on
Hit the dancefloor, move ya ass to my song
Tell the dj, hey play it all night long

Verse 2

Forget ya 9 to 5, working just to make it dime
Everyday hustling, struggling to survive
Tonight just feel alive, the next day the sun will shine
Time for us to celebrate, eliminate the daily grind

I’m a free ya mind, teach a few life lessons
A fresh prince like will smith , I AM Legend
Not the best ever, although I’m quite clever
Yeah, before me HP was only two letters

Who can do it better, bigger, or do whatever
I’ll be pretty boy floyd, enjoy mayweather
Make it rain, never, I’d rather share the wealth
What’s the point of ballin’, if I’m ballin by myself

Yeah, I’m a champion but I need my teams help
Give us nothing the best, yes, want top shelf
Gimme one mic, Kanye you so right
Switch the style up & now what… the good life

Verse 3

They say my style’s between Common & Kanye
That’s a deep thought like Bucks & Yohance
I’d rather play like Jay, in between a Beyonce
Married to the music, but could use a fiance’

They often replay, just to hear to what I say
For my Spanish nigs, do it big or rather grande’
I’m like Andre my love below is throbbing
My speakerboxx rocks, your ears are calling

Yeah we like to party but we do it our way,
Run and tell the dj, hears what gotta play
Can I get that, tribe called quest
Can I get a little biggie smalls before his death

You can play the new iish, but just mix the rest
And can I get some lil kim before she had breast
Ladi dodi in the party, like Doug E. Fresh
And you can rock that HP, because I got next, Yes!

City to City

Written By: Hassahn Phenomenon

City To City

Chorus:
City to city we gone light it up, turn my mic up, ladies to the front
The after party we gone shut it down
Do the damn thing get another round
Then its back to the tele yo, yes we gone get it on
Party til the break of dawn, DJ play another song
Fellas trying to mack out, ladies wanna act out
Everybody scream, shout, I can’t stop this feeling

1st Verse:
We leave the tele, we ready, we gotta do the show
Crowd in a frenzy, get busy, we about to get it on
Bare witness the sickest, ridiculous with these lyrics yo
Crowd kind of crazy, these ladies, they throw their panty hose

The episodes unfolding, confident, chest is swollen
Ladies ripping my clothes and exposing this mic I’m holdin’
A chosen few, step on stage, do what they wanna do
Matter of fact, I interact with maybe one or two

Alicia Keys, Ashanti’s believe I’m into you
Rap version of Usher, rougher but you can be my boo
Have you screaming, “Yeah” and leave ya feenin too
Phenomenon keep the crowd jumping just like the Kangaroos

Breakin’ news back of the stage, pursued an interlude
Escapades for days, crazy all that includes
Rocking mics, X-rated nights, a whole lot of booze
All about the music, we do it, cause that’s the life we choose

2nd Verse:
We hit the club, what’s up, its time to party yall
Straight to the bar, barcadi, belvedere, get involved
We revolve with allstars, the girls pause,
Ice grills the get killed, filled with broke jaws
We all up on the dance floor, baby just get low
Love the way she whine, bump and grind to the tempo
My brims low, tilted to the side like a pimp yo
We Chi-town, soul by the pound, that’s how the shit go

The guestlist consist of the young the restless
Grown and sexy, the recipe for freshness
The best chicks only getted invited to breakfast
Phenomenon fly, don’t rely on necklace

Impress chicks with words, adjectives, adverbs
Cruise her avenues and move around her curves
We swerve back to the hot spot, groovin’ to hip-hop
Ain’t over til it’s over, keep on makin’ the beat rock

3rd Verse:

We at the hyatt, defying the laws of gravity
Everybody high off this feelin, fulfilling fantasies
Can I please, measure the room consumed in them jeans
Indian, carribbean, latinas, my black queens

Hot scenes, and wet dreams in the Jacuzzi
Femme fatale, monster’s ball, reinacting the movie
To move me, sophisticated chicks, no groupies
The party don’t stop until she says seduce me.

City to city we gone light it up, turn my mic up, ladies to the front
The after party we gone shut it down
Do the damn thing get another round
Then its back to the tele yo, yes we gone get it on
Party til the break of dawn, DJ play another song
Fellas trying to mack out, ladies wanna act out
Everybody scream, shout, I can’t stop this feeling

Good Look

Written By: Hassahn Phenomenon

Verse 1

Yeah, you gotta love it, free ya mind
Its like the Secret’s been discovered for the time
People always wanna know what’s my 9 to 5
Just quit my day job just to write rhymes

Now that’s good look, we gottem so shook
Life is chess not checkers, just took your rook
Tryin to make maneuvers still remain elusive
Not the best emcee, to some degree that’s inconclusive

Like the Black Confucius, combined wit ghetto smoothness
Stimulate her mind induce a few coochie juices
Fly with Grey Gooses, but down to earth, the coolest
The flow is Ike Turner, Honey cause its so abusive

The beat got bumps bruises, just might knock ya clueless
Love the music, not the bizness, so release the nuses
Now just let it breathe, let me the plant the seed
For its worth, it the rebirth of music that you need

Hook:
From the studio to the video
I just quit my day job so you can hear me yo
Live in the stereo, the camera’s ready yo
Now that’s a good look, that’s that’s a good look

Forget a 9 to 5, We staying on the grind
Damn right, we want the limelight, let it shine
Shawty get in line, tell you one more time
That’s a good look, that’s that’s a good look

Verse 2

I’m like a role model & role with with models
But I prefer sistas, thicker like coke bottles
We Do it full throttle, see through Pizano goggles
Live in Hollywood, my hood still be Chicago

Do it for my people, there really is no equal
Dressed well, Gordon Gatrall just like I’m Theo
I’m like the rap Neo, and this Matrix Sequel
The Mike Jackson of rappin’ the game full of titos

We like the Black Beatles the heroin in needles
Ray Charles with bars, I’m blind to the evil
That often comes with zeros, trying to be a hero
Live the American dream on wings of the eagles

Now how fly is that, I’m trying to bring it back
Back when my father was harder whippin his Cadillac
Back when Tribe was questing, essence of abstract
My people holla back, you’ll know where you’ll find me at

Verse 3
I could have been a chemist, or a mathematician
Maybe a Doctor but not patience want yall to listen
To my true ambition, a childhood vision
In the Chi I’m fly, on Venice beach I’m so bitchin

So I’m a stay spittin, I’m tryin to make a living
And give you nothing but def jams like russell simmons
But with a new premise, this is Mr. Liggins
Hassahn Phenomenon, It’s a celebration bitches

About to make my entrance, let me set the standard
Metaphors like meteors, about to rock the planet
We only do it classic and try to move the masses
Low key, we really some conceited bastards

But with a real passion, its time to make it happen
Tryin to move crowds, homey you can keep rappin
Lights, camera, action, let me strike a pose
We on the late shift, good look, case closed

You

Written By: Hassahn Phenomenon

“You”
Verse 1
Why you make me like mother, I often wonder
How me made it through the winter barely having a summer
A born winner, in the hospital, fifteen
wit a child in her, these are the

In your image, you designed the vision fit for all women
Mother, daughter, sister, wife, life she is so driven
So different, soft as a kitten, yet never timid
Lady lioness, a true success can run a business

Do the dishes, bring home the bacon, make it delicious
College grad, loved my dad, had time for hugs & kisses
Somewhat livid when she had to smack a few stupid bitches
In the office, Ms. Ross, in the house she’s misses Liggins.

True dimensions of a Goddess, corporate scholar
With some street knowledge, a diamond in the rough
So polished unblemished will fight to the finish,
I ask God why & who am I

Verse 2
Why you make me like my father a modern day martyr
On the other hand, a man surrounded by drama
Street scholar, something like a pimp without a corner
Raised by his single mother, these are the

The oldest male child, outta 7 kids now
He’s a father figure for his younger siblings
Yet still his critics, stay buggin, stay judging
But for his family he gone stay hustlin’ Stay cussin

But in the end he gone make something, of his life
For all the wrongs for his son he gone make it right
Promised my momma that one day she would be a wife
Despite his indiscretions, love is his essence

He so aggressive, but I understands his methods
& I got the message, I’m shaped in his image
got the sense of humor, could have been Michael Jr
I am what you are, and you know by far

Verse 3
Why you me like my sister, she’s not the average teen
Different childhood than mine, smile she a living dream
Little queen, grew up in a time when our grass was green
When I was a child, the grass was brown and full of weeds

I believe her birth was the renaissance, childhood innocence
Changed the way my parents think, inner thoughts
Keeps me motivated, she the sign that me made it
Went from negative to positive, that’s understatement

She’s so impatient just like our father is
Spoiled on one hand but understands she’s a privileged kid
Then again, she is the seed of a different blend
Of my parents love, more hugs, more dividends

Many friends, cheerleader, track star, athlete
Run away my blues when her shoes hit the concrete
Complete, full circle, she’s my universe
Intelligent sister, always put u first

Hook,

Everything I’m not in this life
Made me everything who I am
The who, what, when, where & why
I undestand
