SoloRockSinger/Songwriter

My music resonates on many levels...it can hit you between the eyes, pull at your heartstrings, or tickle your funny bone. I've created my own musical genre; "Contemporary Hippie Folk Rock," because other genres don't quite capture the essence and the flavour of what I do. I can't stop my influences from oozing through my music, and I have been touched by contemporary, hippie, folk and rock artists over the decades.

Biography

I enjoy performing solo now, choosing to travel alone, playing both relatively small and intimate venues, in addition to larger bars, lounges, and all the way up to music festivals.

My music has many faces....rock...blues...country...folk...celtic...latin...
and speaks with many tongues about who I am, what I believe in, and what makes me laugh.

I've been influenced by artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Cockburn, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, and MANY of the independent artists that I have heard over the years. They inspire me and keep the songwriting candle burning.

What sets me apart from other singer/songwriters/performers I think is my ability to engage the audience. To me, it's all about the audience. If they're not having a good time, what's the point? Otherwise, I might as well just be home playing in my studio. They provide me with energy and a reason to perform.

When I'm playing a gig, my purpose is to touch the audience in some way, to inspire them, to make them laugh, and to make them feel like they've had a great time! One of the ways I do that is to bring along a variety of percussion instruments and invite the audience to be my "back up" band.

It never ceases to amaze me how much everyone, young and old alike, enjoy doing that and becoming a real part of the music experience. It must be working because I've noticed other artists that have seen me do this, are now copying me.

The Spider & The Fly

The Spider and The Fly – Herky Cutler – June/07

Same Riff throughout… E F# G F# Then….A7

Intro B A B A Riff A7

Well the spider looked at the fly And she said “My oh my!

You’re sure looking good today Come on over here and let’s play!”

Well the fly looked back at the spider And then buzzzzzed on over to sit beside her

He said “You’re looking mighty fine as well! A bug of distinction I can tell”

Then the spider said to the fly “There’s just one thing I need to clarify

You don’t seem to be too afraid Sitting here on this sticky web I’ve made.”

Well the fly looked around and said “Huh! I didn’t realize what I had done

I was hoping you and me could be friends But I guess now this is the end….”

B A
Now you know a spider and a fly Normally don’t see eye to eye
B A E Riff
And usually one of them will die ‘Cause one’s the baker…and one’s the pie

Then the spider looked at the fly And I swear she had a tear in her eye

And she said “Maybe it’s time we made a change There are lots of things in this world we can re-arrange

Then the fly looked up at the spider Relieved he didn’t end up inside her

And at that moment he felt might good Just like the way he thought everyone should

So the spider snuggled up to the fly They both had a twinkle in their eye

And from that day on they would never part And they died together with love in their heart

So I hope you enjoyed this little tale And that the good in YOU will prevail

Don’t you think it’s time we stopped all this hate?? Like the spider and the fly we can relate….
