I Be Grand Love

I Be Grand Love was founded by Gabriel Olson and Devon Whitaker. The two actually met through a craigslist ad for musicians. Gabriel had put up an ad seeking local musicians and the only one that responded was Devon. The two immediately started working on songs together. Coming together in the beginning they were able to bounce off of one another musically. Having two different upbringings of music allowed them to teach one another and keep the music always interesting to one another. Gabriel growing up on 70's style music such as Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, etc. Devon grew up on more of a motown style of music, such as Al Green Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters.

Growing up on different music didn't stop the two from gravitating towards the same style of music. Some more recent influences on the two are Blonde Redhead, Beach House, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, U2, The Cars, Radiohead, The Helio Sequence.

After writing several songs doing a few acoustic shows here and there the two started to find other musicians to form a band. After and few bass players and drummers fell through, they eventually found a steady bass player, then followed by a drummer. These four eventually started the first band and recorded some tracks, and played a hand full of live shows locally. The band later broke away and eventually Gabriel and Devon took a few months hiatus. The two took the time to learn some other musical genres of guitar work and write some solo music. When the two got back together in late 2010 their minds were fresh and ready to start an entirely different sound. Ready to make an impact and not make the same mistakes twice. The big thing was the band name. We wanted something to stick out and be meaningful to us because we are the driving force to this music we create. I Be Grand Love, is every letter from our first names, Gabriel - Devon. So I Be Grand Love is Gabriel and Devon.
