"Islands & Tigers"

"Do You Want To Come Back Home" is probably the finest pop track to come out of San Antonio since The Cartographers debut release in, what was it? 2009? The snappy recording (Shout out to the drummer for the great hi-hat work) instantly conjures the Möbius strip of teenage(read early 20's) relationships that begin/end with making out and breaking up. The rest of this 5-track EP returns to the vaguely surf/pop mixed bag of influences (track 2 is vaguely cure-ish, track 3 is vaguely skanky, track 4 vaguely Neutral Milk Hotel-ish, etc.) that plagued the group's debut LP. All in all this is a solid release by a band that is straddling the line of imitating it's influences and finding it's own voice. I'm looking forward to future releases and guys if you're reading this, I would totally buy the first 2 tracks of this on a 45.

"ISLANDS & TIGERS: 'FAILED ATTEMPTS'"

"If I could choose from a thousand lovers, I would surely choose you." These telling words begin “Do You Wanna Come Back Home?” — the stellar first track on this delirious summer romp of an EP from one of San Anto's best young pop-rock groups. It's that heartfelt belief in the sacredness of youth and the enormity of its emotions that imbues each bright, sun-n-surf-soaked song on Failed Attempts with the feeling of eternal momentum. On the EP's finest song, “Alone On New Year's Eve,” the group excels at a frenetic garage bounce dressed up with whistles, manic organ, and an earnest vocal besmirched by a youthful sense of immediacy. - San Antonio Current

"‘Islands & Tigers’ in the WOAI.com Garage"

The members of Islands & Tigers may only be in their teenage years but they’re proving that age really ain’t nothing but a number. With some high-energy dance moves and musical diversity to the max, the band hopes to take over the San Antonio vintage dance/rock world by storm.
