"Advance Praise for Jake Shane's album "Evening Sounds" by The Daily Telegraph"

"Jake Shane's album Evening Sounds neatly blends folk, Americana and even some Spanish influences from his time in Madrid in pleasant melodies with some clever lyrics on songs such as Before Winter and Seascape. An enjoyable listen." - Martin Chilton of The Daily Telegraph, UK -

"Review of "Ancient Fire" (2012)"

Jake Shane’s songs take us into a space populated by saviors and strangers, situated somewhere between minute particulars and eternity. His voice yearns and seeks, and his language is as fresh and original as it is beguiling. By turns plaintive, rollicking, mystic, celebratory, Jake’s music channels the spirit of blues and folk traditions while breathing new life into the old forms. His characters are often familiar; the stories are his. -Emir Parrotta - Emir Parrotta

Bio

Jake Shane grew up in Springfield, Illinois where he started collecting vinyl records with his father at age twelve. Hendrix led him to Dylan and Dylan led him to the recesses of the early blues and folk traditions. Jake received his B.A. in Philosophy from Belmont University in Nashville, releasing his Karamazov-inspired album, Ancient Fire (2012), to fulfill his Honors thesis requirement.

After working at Oh Boy Records, he moved to Madrid, Spain. Jake lived there two years, in which time he taught English, studied flamenco guitar and translated a book on the subject from Spanish. While in Spain he also wrote the songs to his forthcoming album, Evening Sounds, which he recorded upon moving back to Nashville in September 2014 to pursue music full-time. Two songs from this album are featured in the Nashville Review. The magazine American Songwriter has also featured his single, "Seascape." His strong, image-driven lyrics explore the eternal questions through American roots music with Spanish overtones, forming a sound entirely his own.
