“Iceland. It's not all majestic fjords, insanely conceptual Bjork albums created entirely from the sounds of car doors shutting and strangely placed lower-case j's. There're also a smattering of 'proper' rock acts and sometimes they've got enough guts, determination and air miles to make it over here. Jan Mayen are one such band. They are an urgent, dynamic garage rock outfit from Iceland which are just now reaching fruition after a few years of wandering.”

“While many of our fellow journalistic outlets will offer you a 'safe bet' tip for this years new hot band, we at DiS would like to place our foot somewhere a little more left of the middle, just like we did with Bloc Party all those months before most. Thusly, we give you Icelandic Jan Mayen. Melding the fierce, exciting fun of early Ash and Weezer with the experimental sides of Pixies and the noise and enthusiasm of all the above put together.”
