"Jeff Byrd & Dirty Finch debut album review"

“I been pickin’ locks and stoppin’ clocks to quell the hands of time/ It’s a million to one I’ll see 41, but I’ll live while I’m alive.” With opening lines and powerful sentiment such as this, not to mention a killer melody, how could listeners not find themselves drawn in? From the initial lines of “Draggin Bones” to the final breath of “Venus,” the closer, newcomers Jeff Byrd & Dirty Finch serve to captivate their audience. Music such as this calls to mind the timeless quality that such alt-country favorites Gary Louris, the Jayhawks, Wilco, and Whiskeytown embody. Upon hearing those distinctive voices, one is able to instantly recognize the artist. The same is to be said for Byrd and his band. The debut effort is, without a doubt, exceptional and worthy of multiple listens. The genre might not be new, but these individuals have succeeded in reinventing it, and have done so in an effortless manner. (Julia R. DeStefano) - Boston's 'The Noise'

"Jeff Byrd & Dirty Finch"

"These guys are a solid alt-country band from Rhode Island. I want to commend the band on their ability to keep the songs upbeat, something that I typically find to be lacking in alt-country. It really adds to the music helping the harmonies, melodies, and tight instrumentation soar (check out their song Better Without You for an example of the SOLID harmonies)." - Jon Ostrow @ MicControlblog.com

Bio

Jeff Byrd and Dirty Finch are an alt-country / roots-rock band out of Rhode Island that have been playing relentlessly all over the Northeast. Their southern style twang and infectious hooks and melodies are causing quite the buzz amongst fans and critics alike.
The band released their self titled debut album in December of 2010 that was well received by fans and critics alike. The songs 'Probably Maybe' and Draggin' Bones' were both featured in numerous television programs and national commercials.
The bands follow up album entitled 'Jumped That Train' is set for release January 12th, 2013. The guys believe this new album demonstrates what ‘Jeff Byrd & Dirty Finch’ are all about. The album swirls with harmonies, infectious hooks and intense melodies from songs ranging anywhere from dirty and gritty (‘Ashes, Women and Wine’, ‘Whiskey’, ‘Memphis’) to bright and poppy (‘Ain’t Got a Lot’, ‘Rose’, ‘Entry Wounds’) to moving and poignant (‘Best of Me’, ‘Elementary Parts’).
That being said, I think you’ll find that over all, ‘Jumped That Train’ is an introspective journey through hills and valleys, ups and downs and lefts and rights. It’s an album full of thoughtful words and powerful music…from a band that’s been labeled country, rock, alt-country, Americana and everything in between.
Whatever label you may bestow upon them, we hope that you’ll find their words & music to be meaningful and inspirational to you.

Please listen, and by all means…enjoy.
