Bio

Americana folk indie pop guitar/mandolin-playing singer-songwriter Jena Rickards has had a long and deterministic journey to find her wholly original and organic sound. Described by her publicist as, “Something I could definitely hear on Grey’s Anatomy,” Jena’s music is a euphonious landscape of emotion that will transport the listener from their wayward, existential existence to somewhere in the range of two-and-a-half and three-and-a-half minutes of intoxicating, arsenical ecstasy. As Robert Frost once said, “The job of the poem is to provide a momentary stay against confusion.”

This is Jena’s music.

Jena began her long and deterministic journey to find her wholly original and organic sound in Oregon. “She comes from this really small town in Oregon,” said her manager, “where people ride horses into town. But then there are these big, beautiful mountains. And then there’s someone like Jena.” Growing up in the home of artistic parents, she began playing guitar at a young age and was discovered, a few years ago, at a folk festival by Vince Gill, who encouraged her to move to Nashville and attend Belmont University.

Jena has played extensively in the Northwest, but recently played her first show with her band—an eclectic mix of drums, guitar and bass—at Exit/In in Nashville. She is currently working feverishly on her EP.

At the end of the day, though, what matters is the music.

“Everyone that I’ve talked to that has listened to Jena’s music says that when they leave they feel good,” said her manager. “And that is really special to me, and that is something that I want millions and millions, if not billions, of people to experience. Trillions of people wouldn’t be bad, either.”

“I could also hear her stuff behind a movie,” added her publicist. “Yeah, definitely behind a movie.”

Jena is eagerly preparing to release her EP this spring. Exact date, time and location for the release show are TBD. For more information, visit JenaRickards.com.
